    Thanks so much

  • ntassoni Aug 23, 2008

Replacing the motor doens't make any sense. The problem is with the lid.

  • ntassoni Aug 23, 2008

    No.

  • ntassoni Aug 23, 2008

Okay but if we press on the lid it restarts immediately..Would that be an indication of a bad timer ?

  • ntassoni Aug 23, 2008

Makes sense but, where is the switch. If I just lift the lid I don't see anything.

  • ntassoni Aug 23, 2008

Thank you I'm going to purchase a new swtich

Dear Sir/madam,

The lidswitch may be defective. If it is, the washing machine doesn't spin. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the doorframe. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washingmachine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replaceit.

Under your lid if you lift it up. there is a switch. you need to make sure that the switch is being depressed completly when it is the cycle. since you can press on the lid and the cycle will restart it's self you will need to change that switch and or put something there that will depress it so will keep through the cycle.

If your washer stops periodically during a cycle, it probably means that your timer is bad or stalled. You can take the control panel off and look at the contacts for scorching or corrosion.

Sounds like the motor control unit is loosing its neutral. Check the white harness connected to each water valve solenoid and check for poor crimping of the terminals. The neutral side passes through the water valve soleniod.........

MY Roper washing machine model RAS7233KQO stopped in the wash cycle after about one minute. It will not drain or spin? What do I need to do to get it fixed?

try opening and then slamming lid kind of hard. Sometimes as this particular model ages, the inside of the lock assy can vibrate enough to cause the unit to stop at any point during the cycle. If lid trick doesn't work, there could be a issue with the motor, or the timer. If unit does not drain period, there could be something caught inside the drain pump. This drain pump is a mechanical style of pump. If there is a significant amount of blockage inside the pump, it could cause the motor not to turn. I would think the lid trick will work. You might have to try a couple of times for it to work.

Getting this code

Hello there and wdelcome to fixya
Resolution: DL is a failure of the door to lock. The door must lock before any cycle begins. This can be caused by any of the following conditions:
  1. The door lid is not completely closed due to an interference.
  2. Wash media buildup is preventing the lock bolt from extending.
  3. Machine/Motor control is detecting an open door/lid switch when it attempts to lock.
  4. Machine/ Motor control can not determine if the door/lid switch is in a locked state.
  • In some cases the control can be non-functioning and not accept any activation from the keypad, to clear and restart the control follow the below listed steps:
    • Unplug or turn the circuit breaker off for a 30 second period.
    • Reconnect the unit to the power source, breaker back on or plug into the wall outlet.
    • Press the Pause/Cancel/Stop button twice to clear the PF in the display
    • Try to start a short cycle to check the operation of the machine by selecting a cycle and pressing and holding the start button until the machine starts.

The lid was lifted during the wash cycle. The washer stopped but when the lid was put down it will not restart. There is power at the plug.

This is usually caused by the lid switch. These are inexpensive and easy to replace. There are videos at www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html that will walk you thru testing and replacing this part. It may be a different model but the testing will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations of your specific model. All parts come with installation instructions. Not all models are available.

During rinse cycle, washer just stopped, and won't continue rinsing/drain/finish

Have you tried restarting the cycle? If so, does it stop at the same exact place in the rinse cycle? If so, the issue is most likely the timer mechanism (cycle control) that needs replacing.
If it doesn't stop at the same place, it may be a flaky lid switch.

Kenmore series 70 washer won't stop agitating when lid Is lifted.

I have a Series 80 and when I lift the lid it does not stop aggitating when in wash mode. When I lift the lid it does stop spinning when in rinse mode. As designed.

To stop wash-mode aggitation at lid-lift, using the existing lid switch and other electrical components, is not easy and not recommended. I can think of a way to do it (triple-pole lid switch) but I will not detail the idea .. for safety concerns.

To stop aggitation, simply use the main settings dial control. You'll save money and possibly prevent a fire hazard!

Washing machine won't drain

It sounds like you may have some bad contacts in the timer or you may have a bad lid switch which will not allow it to go into a spin during the rinse cycles or the final spin.
