Pilot going out when thermostat turned on

I am having a problem with a cecilware gf10 countertop deep fryer. First I don't have to push the pilot button for the pilot to light just hold a lighter and the pilot lights in either the pilot or on position. Second when I light the pilot and turn the temp up the pilot goes right out and burners don't ignite. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the info. I went ahead and hooked up a separate propane tank to it with an adjustable regulator and turned it up to about 12 and it seems to work that way. I am working with it all weekend so next week I should have a chance to check out the gas valve. Any idea where to get that part. I have checked FMP and twinsupply and neither has it listed.

It could also be the high limit thermostat shutting the pilot lite off.

This is caused by the safty bypass feature on the gas valve. You will need to replace the gas valve. This problem is a safty interlock built into the valve when it fails it will not let the main valve portion fire.

You will probably have to order it from the manufacturer

I have an imperial fryer. Pilot is on but main burners don't ignite. Pilot looks normal & thermostat clicks when turned

Number 5 is your thermopile/pilot generator. It is a pilot generator that does 2 things. It holds open the valve with a safety magnet and it operates the safety valve solenoid whenever the control stat calls for heat. Overtime they get weak and will hold the pilot but not operate the valve solenoid. I would replace that pilot generator.thermopile and party on!

Hello, I have a cecilware fryer that looks exactly the same as the FMB 40 model.I don't know the model # because all info has been previously scratched off the label. The pilot light won't stay lit to light...

PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO FIX THE PROBLEM YOURSELF. You should hire an authorized service company to evaluate and fix the fryer.

Cecilware had a well known problem with their thermopile F178A. There was a recall on it last year. There are a few that are still in the field. It's possible your fryer might have one installed in it.

Their website doesn't have the manual posted. You will need to call them. 800-695-4500
Good luck

Hi I have got a cecilware deep fat fryer

Sounds like you need a gas regulator in the main line.

Either that or you are using a natural gas fryer on propane which is a no-no if not converted properly.

My Cecilware GF-10 LP deep fryer pilot will light, but won't stay lit after waiting the minute or so. Seems like the thermostat for the pilot is not working properly. Any suggestions?

The pilot sensor - a thermocouple or thermopile is probably the problem. They are fairly cheap and available at most hardware stores because they are also used in water heaters and furnaces. There are ways for a professional to check them but if you are going to change it yourself it is a cheap enough part to go ahead and try. Sometimes access can be a bit of a problem. You usually have to remove one or two of the main burners to get to it easier. Just don't try to light it up again until you have put them back in again.

How do you re-light pilot light

Turn the knob on the gas valve to the pilot position. Sometimes you have to slightly depress the knob to turn it..don't use a pair of pliers. In the pilot position.. push the knob in and light the pilot..keeping the knob pushed in for 30 seconds. Let go and the pilot should stay on. Turn the knob to the on position and set the thermostat.

Pilot does not turn on. Fryer was in use n working perfectly. We turned pilot off cause fryer was not gonna be in use. so now pilot does not turn on.

Make sure the high limit isnt tripped. There is a red button down next to the thermostat that you push to reset the high limit. If it will not light after that it is probably a bad thermocouple - This is the sensor located in the pilot flame.
Make sure it is well positioned in the pilot flame. If not adjust it into the flame, if so replace it. They are generally available at your local hardware store because they are also used in water heaters and home furnaces. They are pretty cheap and fairly easy to change. It ususally requires that you remove one or two of the main burners for easy access. Empty the grease first just to be safe. Remove the nut from the top of the drain valve handle and remove the handle. Look to the top of the main burner or burners in front of the pilot and there are two bolts on each burner that need to be loosened (not removed) and then lift the burner to remove the bolts from the slots and pull the burner down and out. Remove and replace the sensor (should be fairly straight forward), Replace the burners and valve handle, refill with grease, and try to light it again.

I got problem with my cecilware gas deep fryer fms 40, i was able to turn on the pilot, then i turn it to full on possition, but the fire will go out when i was trying to adjust the thermostat, please...

Make sure the flame is staying on the burner and not lifting away from any sensors in the flame. You may need to adjust the air bands on the burners to get the flame to stay down. Also make sure the vent in the back is free of blockage.

on that cecilware fryer there is a regulator to the right of the pilot light unsrew the aluminum cap and take off cap then you will see a white plastic screw turn that screw clockwise until it stops this will give the fryer more gas this could be your problem the regulator is silver and inline with the gas pipe comming from the back
