To reset a laptop to factory settings, you will need a specific reset disk. The disk may have come with the laptop when you bought it, or you may have to call the manufacturer and have them send you a disk. You may have to pay for it.
To reset you laptop you can do one of 2 things, (1) If you still have the CD's and papers that came with it, there is a CD that is labeled "operating systems" or "Windows XP - Vista - 7" reinstall that and partition the C: Drive, it will be like straight out of the box. (2) You can use the recovery drive under "My Computer".

hi Yolanda, depending upon your laptop or OS you will have different option to do a factory reset. For example if you are using a HP laptop, there is option called Recovery Manager which has option to reset the laptop to Factory setting. Lenovo/IBM laptops have one press recovery before boot.
Which Laptop or OS do you use ?
