the best solution for you is to use a bluetooth usb adapter (if your pc doesnt have one) to transfer files. The advantages are much more with this connection than over the cable... the cost is minimal (in greece its about 12 euros) it will solve your problem and the most important thing is that bluetooth is compatible with all the mobiles so you will not need to install different softwares for different mobiles (which may mess up your xp) and use different cables. if for example your next mobile would be a samsung and your brother has a nokia and your father has Sony ericson what would you do ? install 3-4 diffrent softwares and connect / disconnect cables ??? no... - get a bluetooth...

once u have connected USB from mobile to system... u get a message option of mass storage and com port.... better select mass storage for easy process... wen u select mass storage automatically the memory card will be displayed on my computer ( same a pen drive).....
