The paper constantly jams and gets stuck in the printer. I wonder if I need to do some alighment as I don't think I did this the last time I installed the cartredges. How do I do this if this is what is needed? And if not how do I sort out the paper problem?

Re: paper constantly jams
Hi Maura - what you might check is the paper itself. You have to use quality paper in your printer. I know it's nice to buy the cheaper stuff (I try it, too!) but that could be the simple cause of your problem. As for running maintenance on the cartridges, it should be an option available in the HP program.

Papers getting Jammed constantly, Kindly check the paper tray. Remove the Cartridge from the printer and power cord , Turn upside down the printer shake may be some paper might have stuck then reconnect and let me know if its resolved.
The way you describe your error, it seems that there is still some residual paper stuck inside the printer that may cause subsequent paper to be mis-aligned.
Paper jams can be tricky to solve. The paper is usually stuck inside the printer mechanism so even if there is no visible paper jam, you will still get the paper jam error. Try this:
1. Turn off your printer
2. Open all trays and remove any paper stuck there
3. Locate the button to open the printer, open it and remove any paper stuck there also.
4. Repeate the above step for all buttons that you can find to access the inside of the printer
5. Close all doors and put back all trays
6. Turn on your printer

A paper jam notification can be caused by two things. One a hard jam, paper stuck.
Two, If the paper does not reach a flag or sensor on time, the printer knows that a jam has occurred.
Most likely, you had a paper pick problem caused by dirty rollers or maybe the paper is held to tightly by the paper tray. Also a static charge on the paper can sometimes cause sheets of paper to stick together.
This worked for me. If "Paper Jam" error message continues to appear after jam has been cleared, turn off power to printer. Navigate to Control Panel - Printers, right click on HP Photosmart 2570 series icon, click on Delete on drop down menu. This deletes printer from your system. Turn on power to printer. Printer will re-install (may need original installation disc, may not). "Paper Jam" error message should no longer appear.
needs servicing of paper pickup roller and pad separation. Open the paper tray and check for paper dust on pickup rollers Clean the rollers and separation that is fixed in the tray itself using damp cloth. hope this will help
One of two things.
1. When the jam occured there may have been a small piece of paper torn off on a sensor.
2. And I think this is more likley. One of the sensor actuators has fallen off or is stuck causing the sensor to think there is still paper in the machine.
Take your time and examine the paper path carefully.
The actuators are black plastic pieces about an inch long hanging down into the paper path.
