Question about Acer AC 711 17" CRT Monitor

1 Answer

Monitor Problem My Acer AC 711 17" CRT Monitor which I have been using without problems for 5 years is now going into 'sleep' mode 3 seconds after switching on. At first it would correct itself if I switched the computer off and rebooted but now it just goes and stays orange. I can't change any settings because I can't get any display! Please, Please, help

I fixed the problem by acquiring a recovery disk that booted me into the bios screen and the screen came on. I then changed the settings, I still don't know why it happened in the first place though!

Thanks anyway though

Different monitors have different indicator lights. If you do not expereince any problems with the monitor then it is ok

I have my acer p205h 20 inch monitor hooked up to my tobshiba laptop and it works great except it will not go into sleep mode when laptop goes into sleep mode the monitor goes to there is not signal check...

Unfortunately, this is a standard problem, as when your laptop goes into sleep mode, it shuts off power to the secondary monitor, without giving it the signal to go into sleep mode. You could try digging around your settings, but most likely you'll just need to turn off the monitor when you're not using it.

My Acer AL1714 monitor was given to me, the person that gave it to me said last time the last time it was connected it work but the monitor had been stored for about 2 years. So I bought a 19V-2.3A power...

mccampbell71 Probably a failure of inverter circuit(dc to ac 600-1100vac) to light-up (sustain) "cold-cathode-fluorescent lamps" causing the "switch-mode-power-supply" to go into full or partial SHUTDOWN mode. Black Screen of Death strikes again!!! The Question I have is why did you BUY a "black-brick" supply? Did the other one fall out of the car or get run over by a train? Only you will be able to make the decision of to REPAIR or Trade-in for new. You are no different than 5000 others worldwide (all brands) who have monitor's with BSOD! Yes, some (75-90%) can be saved to work 1-3 more years! Read some of my other responses in my profiles (12fixlouie aka louie12fix) to learn of the options you have open to you. Bye for now 12fixlouie If this info was of some use please rate on fixya.

Acer monitor will not come on after going to sleep

Well there is 2 straight things to check, first make sure all the connections are solid and connected properly, secondly make sure to test the system that is connected with the same connections on another monitor. Now that you have tested the hardware test the software, most monitors especially lcd's will have a menu where you can change the time set for sleep mode, I suggest checking this and changing it see if it has any effect. If still you have the problem, then we are probably looking more at an internal problem on the monitor directly to do with the video connection going out, the reason I say that, is because the monitor goes to sleep mode is not the real problem, the problem is that the video connection is set to make it do that. If the video connection is bad, you pretty much have to find replacment part and someone to solder it, or replace the whole board.

Have you tried getting a second monitor ? then using it to get to the desktop and go to power options and set your monitor to never turn off? after that is done try your monitor again and see if that works.

Problem of monitor sreen going black in 5-10 secs is generally dry solder joints around the inverter transformer on the inverter PCB.

Acer AL1714

OK I have the same monitor, I was given it by a client when I couldnt fix it, I DO have the 19V supply and still getting the same problem.

If you open it and reseat all connections you can reach, I find it starts to work. Unfortunately after less than a few days use it goes off again.

Hopefully this can help someone get further
