Question about Indesit Washing Machines

1 Answer

I've got an Indesit WIDL126S and it is leaking. The water escapes from behind a brass plate with wires on. The brass plate is held on by a 10mm nut. Do I need to buy a bearing and seal kit?

The seal round the heater looks worn so I'll have to buy a new one. Do you know how much they are?

I thought it was the bearings and seals as I was feeling pessimistic!

  • Johnny Chaos Aug 26, 2008

Thanks, I tried to tighten it up but had no joy. Once I removed the heater I discovered water was pouring through where the screw goes, so it's well and truly knackered. I bought a new heater for £20 and it goes on this afternoon. I'll put some sealant on for good measure. Thanks for all your feedback. JM.

This sounds like the heater you are looking at. try tightening the 10mm nut a bit. if that doesn't work. loosen the nut, pull heater out and use some sealant. why do you think you need to replace bearings and seals?

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
(no promises but try this!)

I would gently suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor/pump lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters and many machines will not even go to rinse or spin or release the door lock if there is any water still left inside.
Following are my complete and generic guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)
REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT (alternatively use a wet vac as sensibly suggested by VinnyB1234!)
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!). These panels are either held on by (plasic) screws or will just pull off. Most filters are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play.

It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. Using something suitable like a glove see if it is easy to briefly slow the motor down. If it is easy then the motor is malfunctioning.

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Indesit widl126s humming noise on spin cycle and doesnt drain

Your drain filter is clogged with debris. Usually small items like dirt, paper, money, and much more. Clean the filter and you should be set to go.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread. If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

Dancing washing machine

Check that the washer is level , and that there is no movement on it.
Make sure you have not overloaded it.
An out of balance load could cause problem , especially if you had something heavy or extra large in it..
A loose concrete balance weight., or suspension spring unhooked or broken..
Not draining properly ,check filter if there is one usually at front behind removable cover at bottom.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.

Bra underwire stuck

disconnect from electricity. take back panel off.you will see heater at bottom of tub held in by 1 10mm nut.disconnect wires to it. loosen this nut and pull heater out - you may have to help it with a screwdriver. you can then see into the gap between tub and drum and fish for the bra wire.

Indesit wil 103 heater element

no need to take drum out. heater is held by one 10mm nut in the middle of the heater. when tightened, this nut compresses the rubber seal and holds heater in place. loosen the nut. the heater will probably be too tight to remove by hand so carefully use a screwdriver to lever it out

this is not easy

disconnect water and elec

remove the top (2 screws at rear) then remove hoses. remove rear cabinet half - 2-3 screws at top, 1 screw each side at bottom behind plastic covers and 2 screws at bottom rear. back half of cabinet then slides off.

take wires off heater and remove heater - it is held by 1 10mm nut in centre.

you can then see into gap between tub and drum and locate foreign object and remove.

assembly is the reverse
