When I turn on the headlights, the brakelights won't work including the turn signals. when the headlights are off, the brakelights and turnsignals work. what could the problem be?

My first thought would be a bad ground connection in the harness for the rear lights.
You might want to take a test light and check the contacts in one of the sockets.

Brakelights

You have a brake light switch on your brake pedal. First check to see that the switch is closing when the pedal is off. Then check your light bulbs and fuses for the tail lights.
