Lamp timer near 10K

Ok, I ordered a new lamp, but I can't figure out how to reset the light timer. I go to the service menu, and then to replace lamp. It shows listing for several (0-9) bulbs and a total, only bulb 0 has time listed (this is the original one for the tv). It only highlights the total and a section at the top that says "lamp use time reset". I press the center button of the navigation circle, and the menu dissapears, but nothing happens. While in this menu area, I cannot make the highlight move at all. Is there a code that I should be typing in, or when I replace the bulb will it recognise it as a different one.

p,s, I removed the old bulb, and put it back in to see if there was a switch that would reset it.

manual shows nothing on resetting this timer. This is in the service menu area.

  • Fireman Ed Aug 23, 2008

the manual says nothing about lamp timer resetting. it just tells me that the orange light on the tv means replace bulb because of timer.

  • Fireman Ed Aug 23, 2008

it has the original bulb still, I have tried holding the enter button down for a minute at the "lamp timer reset" prompt, but no dice so far. anyone else?

  • Fireman Ed Aug 23, 2008

thanks, this was exactly what I needed to get the light out on the tv.

"If you replace the DLP lamp out of your Zenith or LG, you will need to reset the counter…otherwise you may get an annoying reminder every few days if you’re surpassed the predetermined hour mark.
To Reset:
Ensure the TV is powered on.
1) Press and HOLD the MENU button on the TV
2) Press and HOLD the MENU button on your REMOTE
(hold both these until the service menu pops up 5-10 secs max.)
3) Let go of the REMOTE button first, then release the button on the TV
4) Press and HOLD the ENTER (or OK) button on the TV
5) Press and HOLD the MUTE button on the REMOTE
(hold both until the LAMP LIFE HOURS appears on the screen)
6) Let go of the REMOTE button first, then release the button on the TV
We suggest writing your lamp hours on a peice of masking tape and taping it to the back the TV for future reference.
7) To reset the lamp counter, press SELECT (or the button in the middle of the direction arrove buttons). Hit SELECT a second time to confirm clearing the lamp counter"

Ok. Turn TV off and leave it off for a couple of hours.
Take the lamp out. Turn TV on and then off.
Again keep it off for a couple of hours.
Inset the lamp back in and turn TV on.

Now:
Entering the service menu --> press Menu on TV and remote simultaneously for 5 seconds

I replaced the lamp on my Samsung HLS5086WX/XAA DLP set. How do I reset the timer on the lamp?

I have a Samsung DLP HLN617WX/XAA. After turning off by itself, the three indicator lights were blinking... signifying a defective lamp. I've re-seated the old lamp several times with no change. I bought a new lamp and reset the lamp hours through the "service menu" with no change. My television is still turning itself off and still blinking the same indicator lights. What should I look at, next?

KDF46E2000 - Change Lamp Warning - Reset

Bulb is most likely OK. Original bulb in Sony TV is Philips, label on bulb usually says Philips. Sony don't make bulbs. Sony Cost is usually 1.5 times other sources. Many shopping cart operations sell condemned, reject or poor quality electronic service items because cost of return and fooling with them is excessive. This is obvious and widespread with convergence ICs and other parts.

Lamp timer needs reset. This is usually an automatic function. TV detects Increased lamp current from previous failed bulb or weak bulb condition and resets automatically. TV must be unplugged for lamp replacement for this to work. Occasionally it must be reset manually, as below:

1. TV must be in standby mode. (Power off).
2. Press the following buttons on the Remote Commander within a
second of each other:
DISPLAY Channel 5 Volume + POWER .1. Access Service Adjustment Mode and select the Service Menu that
contains the Category with the Adjustment Item you want to change.
2. To change the Category, press 2 or 5 on the Remote Commander.
Note: Pressing 2 or 5 only changes the categories within the
Service Menu displayed. To change a Category on one of the other
Service Menus, press the JUMP button until the correct Service
Menu is displayed.
3. To change the Adjustment Item, press 1 or 4 on the Remote
Commander.
4. To change the Data Value, press 3 or 6 on the Remote
Commander.
Note: To go back to the last saved Data Value, press 0 then ENT
on the Remote Commander to read the memory.
5. To save the changes, press MUTING then ENT to write into
memory.
6. To exit service mode, turn the power off by pressing POWER .
Wait 2 minutes before restarting the set to allow the fans to
completely shut down or the Service Menu will appear on the screen.

The person I purchased this t.v from is saying the lamp was just replaced, but the FINAL WARNING REPLACE BULB AND RESET TIMER message pops up every time I power the tv on. She said she forgot to reset the...

If the timer has not been reset telling the unit it has a new lamp you will get that message. Call a servicer to find out how to reset the timer if you don't have the owners manual. If the message continues after that you will need to purchace a new lamp. There are problems that accur with some aftermarket lamps.

My screen is black but i ges sound then the red

Have you checked that the lamp is working? If the lamp hours are too high, then the television will no longer function until the lamp is replaced and the counter reset.

When you have replaced the lamp, do this process to reset the timer:

1) Press the Menu button
2) Scroll down to the LAMP TIMER RESET option, scroll right to enter
3) Confirm that it is OK to reset the lamp timer by hitting the OK button.
4) The on-screen menu should confirm the lamp was reset correctly.

How do I reset the replace lamp message

found this on Justanswer.com and worked perfectly for me

1- Press and hold the MENU button on the TV.
2- Press and hold the MENU button on your REMOTE (hold both these until the service menu pops up 5-10 secs max).
3 - Let go of the REMOTE button first, then release the button on the TV.
4- Press and hold the ENTER (or OK) button on the TV.
5- Press and hold the MUTE button on the REMOTE (hold both until the LAMP LIFE HOURS appears on the screen).
6- Let go of the REMOTE button first, then release the button on the TV.
7- To reset the lamp counter, press SELECT (or the button in the middle of the direction arrow buttons). Hit SELECT a second time to confirm clearing the lamp counter.

The problem is that it require the screen to work. That mean that the timer by itself probably can't keep the TV from powering up. I would verify how the lamp was installed (perhaps retrying the previous lamp).

Does any led flashing with a pattern in time occur when you try to power it on?

About the "?" button, i don't see that on the remote.
