Code 41 means the driver is either not loaded or corrupt.
Download a fresh driver from Acer and update the BIOS at the same time as that can give errors similar to this.

I have loptop compaq presario A900/A933TU 17 INCH monitor,sound sytem not working,totally no sound,media device not installed message coming

It seems that the sound drivers on your system are missing.

If you have Windows XP
Go to start
Click on RUN
Type devmgmt.msc
On the device manager screen look for any yellow exclamation mark under other devices or under Sound, video and game controller
Right click on the device listed with yellow exclamation
Uninstall it
Reboot the computer
Go to hp's support website support.hp.com
Enter your Product number in the search box
select the Operating system
Select the Sound / Audio Driver and download it and save it on the desktop
once you download the correct driver just double click the icon on the desktop which is created for the newly downloaded driver software
Follow the onscreen instructions
You might need to reboot the computer to get sound.

P.S. if you are using Vista or Windows 7 you can get device manager by typing devmgmt.msc on start search

Acer dvd driver missing acer ferrari 400 dvd uj-845-c

CD/DVD drive drivers are Operating System generic drivers and need not to be installed explicitly. The CD/DVD drive drivers are installed along with the Operating System and can be reinstalled automatically at next restart, if missing.

Check in the Device Manager under the "CD/DVD drive" category if there is any device listed there and having exclamation mark. If there is any exclamation mark visible beside the CD/DVD drive name then right click on it and restart the Computer.

Restarting the Computer will reinstall the CD/DVD drive driver thus causing it to work normally.

DVD/RW IS NOT WORKING CODE 39

I was fixing a computer the other day and ran across the following error in Device Manager on the CD-ROM drive.

"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

Because of this error, the drive did not show up in My Computer and the customer was unable to burn CDs or read any CDs.

I uninstalled the drive from Device Manager, rebooted the computer, and the problem remained, so obviously it appeared to be a registry issue that I would have to solve. If you are receiving this Code 39 error and your CD or DVD drive is missing and has a yellow exclamation mark in Device Manager, I hope this information is useful.

To solve this Code 39 error, follow these instructions:

NOTE: After removing these registry keys and rebooting, it may be necessary to reinstall any CD or DVD recording applications.

1) Close all open programs

2) Click on Start, Run, and type REGEDIT and press Enter

3) Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

* HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
* SYSTEM
* CurrentControlSet
* Control
* Class

4) This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

* UpperFilters
* LowerFilters
* UpperFilters.bak
* LowerFilters.bak

5) If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

6) After deleting the keys, close the Registry Editor

7) Reboot
your computer

8) Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone

Laptop not recognizing CD drive F

Hi,

the yellow exclamation mark, states that the device is not functioning correctly.
options are:-

1:) go to the manufacturers website, and see if you can download a driver for this.
2:) try uninstalling the device, reboot and see if the device manager, finds new hardware, if so reinstall the device drivers.
3:) eject or remove the device, re-insert ( possible dirty-bad-loose Connection.

CD-rom driver is missing on my Toshiba laptop

Go to Control Panel >System>Hardware >Device Manager.
Click on the + sign and see if the cd/dvd drive is listed. Does it have a yellow or red mark?
If it does, right click it and select un-install. Then restart the computer.

While you are in the Device manager, click the + sign next to "IDE ATA/Atapi controllers"
Check and see if there is a red x or yellow exclamation sign on it. If there is right click and select un-install, then re-boot.

If that does not fix it, update your anti-virus and run a scan in Safe Mode.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

DVD Mutirecorder drive driver

hi, I have scoured the internet and this worked for me

Fixing Code 39 Error
If your CD-ROM drive is not visible in My Computer, you may see the following error message displayed with the CD or DVD drive item in your Device Manager. (Steps to open Device Manager are discussed later in the article.)
"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"
Using Device Manager
To fix this error, first try to update the driver from the Device Manager. To open Device Manager, right-click My Computer on your Desktop, and then on the Hardware tab, select the Device Manager button.
In the Device Manager window, identify the CD or DVD drive item (with Yellow exclamation mark), right-click on it and select Update Driver. Follow the screen instructions to update the device driver and restart your PC.
Using Registry Editor
If updating the driver does not resolve the problem, it indicates that there is a problem in the registry. To fix this problem, you may have to remove a few keys from the registry.
Note: Be careful while working with the registry editor because changes done to the registry using the Registry Editor are irreversible and mistakes can leave you with more problems than when you started. Therefore, it is recommended that you make a backup of the registry before proceeding with the changes.
After you have removed the registry keys listed below, you will have to reinstall all applications that you use for CD or DVD recording to make them work properly.
To fix the error by editing the registry, perform the following steps:
  1. Exit and close all applications currently running on your PC.
  2. On Start > Run type Regedit and press the Enter key.
  3. Next, navigate to the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\ Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
  4. Delete any of the following registry entries if they exist under this key:
    • LowerFilters
    • LowerFilters.bak
    • UpperFilters
    • UpperFilters.bak
  5. Restart your PC and open My Computer to ensure that the CD-ROM drive is visible.
  6. Also, open the Device Manager again to ensure that the yellow exclamation mark and the error code is now gone.
  7. Restart your PC and open My Computer to ensure that the CD-ROM drive is visible.
  8. Also, open the Device Manager again to ensure that the yellow exclamation mark and the error code is now gone.

It sounds complicated but it was actually quite simple, just make sure you delete the right files.
