Iphone silent mode

My iphone is stuck in silent mode. I have toggled the little button at the side, i have taken taken it off. I have tried putting silent mode with and without vibrate and the ring mode on vibrate on and off. Still the phone will not ring. Am at a loss at what to try next. Any suggestions please ?!

I have the same problem. Your restore/reset suggestions don't work. Tried bringing it back to the carrier but they cited "water damage" (even though my phone has never been in contact with water) and refused to fix it. Apple sucks.

The best way to fix this is to hold the Power and the Home button for 15 seconds or so, basically hold them both until the Apple Logo reappears. I work at o2 and have seen this problem a few times, its nothing major, just annoying

Hope this helps guys

Just to add to this, if that doesn't work you should hold both buttons for around 30 seconds, doing this will put the handset into recovery mode. It will then ask you to connect to itunes. Do this, it will then ask you to restore it to a current version (normally version 2.2) let it update and this should be resolved. If all else fails and the handset is still under warranty, try taking the handset to an Apple Store where they may be able to repair this on site.

    Thanks again guys

The phone doesn't ring (vibrate only) How do I disable silent mode? I can't find any setting in the profiles and no mention in the manual....

Is it an iPhone? They have a toggle switch on the side that forces silent mode. If not, what phone is it?

Vibrate/silent mode button doesn't work

I have the exact same problem with my phone, and you can opt to follow a guide to replace the switch:
( )

Or you can do what I did and put a little dab of silicon under the switch to hold it up and hopefully keep it in silent mode for you

I have a iphone 8GB and is on silent seen nd i don't know how to remove it on silent? pls can u tell me want to do?

To enable/disable the silent feature on an iPhone, simply look to the left-side of the phone. There will be 2 buttons there:
1. A small, switch that goes left/right. 2. A longer longer that can be pressed up/down.
Button #1 is the silent toggle switch. Moving it to the left enables silent-mode; to the right disables silent-mode.
Button #2 is the volume adjustment button which will raise the volume if pressed up and decrease the volume if pressed down.
Note: If you press the volume bottom down all the way, the handset will mute itself. When using the volume button, a volume indicator will appear on-screen to indicate how loud/quiet the phone is. If there are no white bars present on the indicator scale, then the iPhone is muted. Press up on the volume button a few times to increase the volume and disable mute.

My IPhone 3g will not ring, only vibrate4

you must have accidentally pushed the button on the side of the phone which puts it on silent mode. it is above the volume buttons. try sliding it back to loud.

My i phone 3gs does not ring, the volume control is on max

On the left hand side of the Iphone you will be having a slider kind of a thing which can be used to toggle from silent to ringing mode. Check if that set to silent mode.

Silent mode button broken.

Dont try to take short cuts. They make make things worse. Just send it in to iphone recharge. They can open it and maybe fix it without any parts (cheaper).

Try iphone recharge.

Hi, i have an iphone 8gb 2g and the silent button is broken and stuck in silent mode, the switch turns easly but it dose not do any thing. is there any way of geting the sound back up, as the mobile wont...

There is a very small switch on the left side of the Iphone, just above the volume lever. if it is accidentally switched down, it will be put on silent mode. Flip it back up and it should be OK.

You will also notice a bell shaped figure appears when you flip it up. When you flip it down, a line will go through the bell letting you know you have set it to silent mode.

Hope this helps

İPhone not ringing

you can actually move the button , on the top left hand side of your iphone, over the ringer volume, you will see a red or orange dot, this means the switch has you iphone in silent mode, I was stuck on this, until I found it is a actual switch, look at it closely, you can move it. So where you see the red dot, put your finger on it and move it the opposite way, and I do not mean press the button, I mean, flip the switch on it, then your phone will not be in silent mode anymore,,, this was very annoying, I hope it helps anyone that has the same problem.
