For model TM4151,
1. you need to open the power cover (power cover is cover where power button is).
2. remove screw that hold keyboard.
3. after you remove keyboard, you will see the screw that hold dvd (it's under keyboard)

Replace an optical drive

depending on model it is usual that there is a removal tab one one edge of your drive face. press this in and the removal tab should be visible then pull to remove the drive from the laptop. (do this when power is off)
order replacement of drive and insert into slot.

I hope this was useful.

Coins in macbook cd slot

This happened to me yesterday. My 3-year-old stuffed the Macbook's DVD/CD slot full of game tokens, hoping that one of them would play a movie. Took me his entire naptime to extract them, but everything works fine now.

First, open the guts of your laptop and remove the optical drive. Depending on your model the appropriate guide should be here:
www.ifixit.com/Guide/search/macbook+optical+drive+replacement

Among those I found the following excellent guide for mine:
http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/MacBook+Core+2+Duo+Optical+Drive+Replacement/518/4

Once the drive is out you can skip most of the remaining (replacement) steps, since you're putting the same drive back in.

Now switch to the following guide to get foreign objects out:
http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Optical+Drive+Disc+Removal+Technique/772/1

Good luck!

Everytime i put a disc in my xbox it reads dvd. I got to keep ejecting it and closing it back to make it read the game . Pleasee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! help me

Just to make certain it's not a burnt game on a modded/flashed xbox then more likely your optical dvd drive on the DVD player for the xbox 360 is going out. The lens and laser can be acting up inside and the only way to fix this is to replace the optical dvd drive. You can remove the optical drive and it has 4 screws. You carefully remove the chip inside and transfer to new xbox 360 optical drive which by the way has to be the exact same model to work properly. There are detailed instructions on youtube on how to remove and replace a xbox 360 dvd player.

I have Acer Extensa 4620 its dvd drive is not working where should i get repaired and how much will be it costs?

Fix it yourself heres how: purchase a replacment dvd drive heres an example of one you could purchase that will fit your model http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ACER-EXTENSA-6602-DVR-K15RA-DVD-RW-LAPTOP-DRIVE-7865_W0QQitemZ330344511659QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Computing_LaptopAccessories_LaptopDrives?hash=item4cea1138ab#ht_1313wt_732
Most dvd drives from any acer extensa will fit your model with the relevent bracket, which you will already have connected to your broken one.
ok now veiw the service manual here Service Manual and go to page 57 chapter 3 (67/142) here you will find the section called removing the optical drive module. its really simple just follow the instructions and pictures carefully.
Hope this Helps! Please Rate!

Dvd drive removal

Hello There and Welcome to Fixya,

Your optical drive (dvd drive) is not a "Customer Replaceable Unit" (CRU) following Lenovo's service standards. What I recommend instead, is for you to contact their helpdesk through phone. Here's the link for their consumer support for further guidance :

Lenovo Support

It will provide you with options and more knowledge about your Y510.

I hope this helps, Thank you for using FixYa.

DVD/CD Bluray Stopped working

Since you are under warranty, I would suggest not trying to do anything yourself if your not sure of your capabilities. Get somebody tech savy to do either one of those options you mentioned. Remove Hard drive, or bad optical drive. Another solution is just back up all your data on a removable drive, and then you can just reinstall the data back when you get the drive back. Depending on how much data you have it shouldnt take long to get back to your settings. It would be a good idea to start backing up anyway if your concerned about losing data and settings since it is almost inevitable eventually in time.

DVD/CD Combo drive, removal/installation.

I believe that this model has a built in drive the only way to remove it is to remove cover to the laptop. If the drive isn't working go into hardware profiles right hand click on the drive and select remove. This will remove it from windows then when you restart windows should find the drive and install the drivers. Make sure you have the software drivers before you do this.

Thanks J

Removing old/Installing new optical drive?

hi chris, best thing is to get hold of a manual but since NEC's support is not that good they don't provide them on their websites for download. but not to worry, generally you got 2 options from my experience i can confirm that the first one is the old drive is secured with a screw located in the back of the laptop underneath the drive itself if that's the case just unscrew it and release the old drive , the other option is you might need to strip the laptop down and unscrew the drive from inside the laptop i guarantee you these are the only ways manufacturers secure optical drives to laptops. hope this helps
