I think it is not possible to install windows 2000 sp2 on your machine, becoz the configurations is not suitable for windows2000 sp2.You may try some other os to boot.

Windows won't start on my IBM pentium 2 desktop computer and goes back to the same screen asking me to choose what mode i want to start windows in.

I would honestly just reformat and install a fresh copy of ur prefered OS. That was the only way that I was able to fix the problem for me. Good luck.

Formatting IBM Thinkpad 600E

I know you can't boot from the Windows 98 CD, and probably not from Windows 2000 either. It is possible to turn the the Windows 98 bootable floppy into a bootable CD, but I think you would be much better of trying to install Linux.

u will have to go to your setup screen and reorder your boot screen so your cd rom will boot first so you can install windows 98, but if your cd rom isn't working you need to go to your device manager and look for your cd rom and install the driver
