When I play a DVD, it is in black and White. When I play the tv it is in colour. Can't get the DVD to play in colour!

You have one of several possible problems, ranging from best case scenario to worst case scenario:
A DVD video that is supposed to be black and white - try a different disc.
Some setting on the DVD player is set to monotone - check manufacturer's instructions
A bad set of cables connecting the dvd player to the tv - test a known good set of cables
A bad output on the DVD player - test DVD player with a different TV.
A bad input on the TV - try another input if possible, test TV with a known working video input.

The read/play function of your device might be dead get a different player ( a used cheap one ) and just plug it in with the correct jumper settings and if it plays you have your answer, buy a new burner.

Using your product I was able to convert my VHS video onto my computer. I then made a dvd but the dvd won't play on my dvd player.

Did you buy the software to convert the VHS into the proper digital file? You HAVE to have it in order for it to work.I priced it a few weeks ago and it's around $50-$60.I do not know how the quality will be though. If you only have a few movies, you may just want to buy the DVD unless it was from a camcorder. If you have any questions or need more help, just comment here and I will get an autolink to your post and reply ASAP.I really encourage responses so I can follow up properly as I know where you stand and asking someone else restarts all the explaining because we cannot see other 'Expert's' responses.Good luck,Greg

Blue screen during dvd play

The dvd player software that you're using maybe not supported by your vga card. Try to change your setting of the graphic card video option. Or try to play the dvds using different player.

Making DVD so that it can be played in DVD PLayer

Hi

Yes Nero will do that but you should have full version of NERO to write it as video DVD and select the speed as minimum that will play in your external DVD player

Thanks

DVD Sound Missing

Hello folks,
If you install another program like Nero xxx. Nero adds or can take away window media player's format from playing certain codec’s. Any program installed like burner software can do the same. This is a software issue. To help fix it download & install codec's from this site. This should help to regain sound for DVD formats.
http://www.free-codecs.com/K_Lite_Codec_Pack_download.htm
Free download.
Other items. Some PC's can loose DVD sound in windows media player 11. Check that you're version of windows is up to date. Last ditch effort. Insert the DVD & open windows explorer. Right click on the DVD drive & see what the format is. (Ex: ***.vob, ***.mp4, ***.divx). Than search either Microsoft or Google for the matching codec's. Download & install it from the web.
Suggestion. Use only one playback software program. Bouncing between programs is not suggested. Find which looks & sound best for you & uninstall the others if not needed.
If by chance non of the above has helped or fixed this issue, please list the program you are using to play DVD's & the format of the DVD.

Good luck all!

Mike

DVD drive problem

Install a proggy like Power DVD or a similar DVD program. Some DVD's have player programs on the DVD you have to explore the DVD and install the player. If you dont have such a DVD do a google for a Free DVD player software.
