Received error light and on screen pop-up advising parts inside my printer have outlived their life expectancy. Contacted the company, their suggestion was to take it to a repair location ( four states away).
I was told by a local tech I'd be better off replacing it, cost wise it would be cheaper to replace than repair.
I've tried other photo printers and just can't replace the quality of my Epson

Re: Epson RX 500 stopped working
OFF the printer.open the top cover whole scanner unit .then look at the black base where usually cartridge moves when the printer is ON when you give printouts..press that black base and it will move little bit down .that whole black base comes little bit up due to some reason and when the cartridge holder moves from left to right for its internal allignments/adjustments it clashes that part somewhere and make such noices.and gives the service error..just press that whole 7- 8 inches base where the cartridge moves slowly ,carefully and firmly.then ON the printer and check.do it again if it does not becomes ok after first time.

Are you often to used refilled cartridge? That's possible your waste tank has been fulled. Hold down the 'Stop' AND the 'B&W' button while powering up. This seems to clear the error message and restore the printer. Worked for me--dunno how long it will last tho!
I have had a R300 for a while now and had a few cartridges in it. Recently a message came up on the screen 'parts inside your printer are at the end of their life' and the printer refused to work! After searching the web it appears to be a waste ink counter, but I could not find any info on resetting it. So I tried pressing different combinations of buttons on the printer and success.
Press and hold 'stop' 'maintenance' and 'power' buttons for about 10 seconds, a message will come on the screen saying counter is reset and to turn off.
Thats it turned my printer back on and all works fine again.
The printer may have an internal error or a hardware issue already. Ink pads full usually indicates if all lights are flashing and an error msg would pop up in your computer screen "parts inside..."
Here's what you may want to try. Just turn off the printer. Checked for obstructions or any foreign objects inside the printer. Try to check from inside the printer where the ink cart holder is, from where you load the paper and from where the paper comes out.
