Smartbase MP360 Scanner Not Identified by MS Vista
MP360 Printer is identified but I am getting error messages "There is no Scanner selected, Please select a scanner". when I press ok for this message another message pops up "A supported scanner is not installed, Please install a supported scanner and then restart Toolbox". These messages appear when I use the Toolbox 4.1 for the above Scanner. I dont know how else I can SCAN documents, as I dont see any button/tools for scanning documents in MP360. Please help!. Jacob.

One thing to check and be sure of is that your printer cable (USB) is definately a USB 2.0 cable. Canon have an issue with their printers with scanners in that the data flow sometimes isn't sufficient when an older USB cable is used. The slightest drop of data on startup or during scanning will cause a stop.
Worth trying and has sometimes solved the problem for my customers.

Print heads cans wear out. Put in cartridge sound more like a low ink level. Check ink levels and reseat the ink cartridges. Still no? I'd suggest having the print nozzles checked by a repair center or Canon.
the error is "Waste Ink Tank Full" error This error occurs after a set number of nozzle activations, and it's to protect you from having ink start leaking out of your printer. The waste ink tank is actually a large cotton pad in the bottom of the machine which absorbs the waste ink, and if this pad becomes full, the ink will pool and, like water, seek the path of least resistance, which could be where the case parts connect, and then leaking out onto your desk or carpet... Resetting the Waste Ink Volume Counter 1) Enter SERVICE MODE.--- By pressing Menu Copy Copy Copy Scan 2) Select TEST MODE. 3) Select PRINTER TEST in TEST MODE. 4) Select 3. [EEPROM CLEAR]. 5) Select 0. [INK COUNT]. 6) Press the [Set] key. 7) Press the [Stop/Reset] key (returning to the state of 3)), and then press the [ON/OFF] key. hope it works for your model Hope it helps. goodluck pls dont forget to rate this
You have Vista this is the problem- there may be a driver issue here take a look at http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&ct=res&cd=3&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.opendrivers.com%2Fcategorycompany%2F1405%2F129%2Fmultifunction-canon-free-driver-download.html&ei=DvyBSL7IOZ3uQo-KpLYN&usg=AFQjCNExG7VOz91yswKZfouV8puBHufbKQ&sig2=gL2G5p7ndcDLosNQmPsh4w
Just as a try- set up a new printer like this
Start/printers and faxes/install new printer
When you get insert CD or select from list
Take Select from list. select then Canon in the makes list and then the model from the model list.
See what you get.
It is possible you will get the printer only and no scanner - I do'nt know,
But try it.
