Weird lines on Toshiba REGZA

Hi. I've got a 42" Toshiba REGZA. Sometimes when we are watching, the left half of the screen will fill with vertical colored lines of varying colors. It's clearly the TV because they remain as you change channels. They will sometimes go away after a couple of minutes, sometimes last as long as 15 minutes. It's still under warranty, but when I approached our salesman he said he's never heard of the problem. I showed him a photograph of the screen as well. The closest warranty repairman is is 80 miles away, so we will be without the TV for at least two weeks if we ship it off. Do you recommend we do this, or is there an easier solution?

Thanks in advance for the help.

My 14 month old LCD Toshiba regza has a fine vertical line on the right side of the screen 4" from the outer edge. It usually goes away after 15 minutes or so. Very disappointing for such an expensive Tv.

I have the weird colored lines as well as the resolution difference on the left side of the screen.

1st major purchase w/out extended warranty! Hind sight?

The resolution difference I can live with, the colored lines are annoying.

I found I could hit TV on that side and lines would either change or, go away. This suggested a loose connection or cold solder issue.

I have gone as far as tearing it down. I still have not found the source. The obsticles are that ( in my case), laying tv down with screen side down clears problem right up and, I need it down to disassemble. Next issue is needing all the electronics off to get to the problem. It is a bit complicated in there

I do have success clearing it up-though temporarily by sqeezing screen and case or repositioning it. If you have a wall mount, you probably can't do this.

If and when I figure it out and, hopefully without further damage, I will post it. I have the feeling now that it is inside the LCD assembly. Not something I recommended for the novice to tackle.

its a conspiracy, i purchased my 40" regaza in february 08, it just started doing the lines right after the warranty expired, it lasts about 15 minutes then returns to normal. I am just waiting for the day i turn it on and i permantly have half a picture, very disappointing, it sounds like this is more common with the toshiba product than what was stated

This seems to be the problem that I'm having with my Toshiba 32HL95. Vertical lines, double vision, amd pink vertical stripe on right side. I'd like to repair it myself. Any advice what part I need? Do I replace the processor board?

Its in warranty ship it, the problem is actually not common but it is a problem it is related to the processor on the main board, and um don't trust salesmen to tell you about repair issues. They really don't have a clue. if you need a tv for to weeks then rent one for two weeks they are not that expensive to rent

How to fix Toshiba Regza LCD TV when half the screen with vertical streaks?

hi this fault sounds like a bad tab/ribbon fault, at top of the tv are ribbons connector to the screen, when one is faulty the heat makes them flex causing this fault, you can bond the ribbon down with a bit of rubber to stop it flexing, but this not a permanent repair as it is a screen fault. hope it helps

Lg 42lg70yd aa Weird screen problem

I've tried the link, but failed to see your youtube video. Anyway, if there are vertical lines, and all of them are closed to each other, indicates either a T'Con or Panel problem. To make it sure, just get into this link Pull up older posts there, either by its left side bar or see it in Timeslide option. There are screen shots of different problems to flat panel TVs. Compare them to your TVs' and make sure about the fault.

HI, I have a 42 toshiba regza tv that is 3 years old when watching tv the screen goes blank and the sound is still there i power it off then back on and the picture is fine. Somtimes wont happen for days...

If you are using a hdmi cable take it off and switch to component cables if the problem goes away keep it that way. Sometimes the hdmi hookups have bugs like this.
