Try downloading the driver using a differentmonitor, this way: ( Please print this out and follow it exactly.)

When you have located the correct driver for your machine,
Be sure you choose the correct driver of those offered.

Please do a clean download and install as follows:

Turn off all your running programs including your virus control
(look in the lower right corner and click on each little icon there and turn off everything you can)

Place a new CD in your copying drive

Now download the driver and SAVE it to that drive. (you will get a window-just highlight the copying drive your CD is in and be sure that it appears in the top bar) then click save.

After it has finished, reattach you new monitor and turn it on.

Place your new CD in your CD-rom drive. Go to My computer> open that drive and double click on the exe file you just downloaded to install. Installation should begin immediately. Follow all instuctions.

    Restart your computer.

I hope this works for you. I am going to do some more research on your monitor. Did it work fine for your friend?

Please let me know the results of this installation and if it works for you please rate my solution higher. Thank You.

I am going to give you information as I find it, without comment. If something works, please let me know immediately.

Your monitor uses only one cable:

VGA cable: Standard VGA 15-pin cable.

You can go to this address to download the manual for your monitor:

It has all connection instructions for both the VS model and the F model . Be sure to follow instructions for your VS model.

It is in PDF format, so if you do not have the current version of adobe acrobat reader you need to download and install it as well.

Our monitor on/off button is not working well. sometimes it won't turn on, other times the blue halo flashes on and off. is there a simple solution or is it just failing?

Check all connections.
Here's some tricks I would try...
1. Verify the monitor's power cord is plugged firmly into the wall outlet and the back of the monitor.
2. Verify the monitor cable is firmly connected to the computer and the monitor.
3. Verify that you have turned the monitor power switch on.
4. If the power light on the monitor is not on, test the wall outlet (plug in a light or something you know works).
5. If the power light on the monitor is not on, try a different power cord.
6. If the power light is on and yellow or orange or flashing, but nothing displays, or the display is incorrect, borrow a monitor from a friend. If that works, your monitor probably needs replaced.
7. Also, you could try your display on a friend's computer. If it doesn't work, your monitor probably needs replaced. If it works properly on your friends computer, the problem may be with your computers video output port, motherboard video chip (or video card, if you have one), or drivers.

Good luck.

HP vs17 (PK657AA) problem: the image is displayed for 3 seconds

first try entering VGA mode in the startup menu. u can get the startup menu by pressing the F8 key immediately after the POST screen. if the screen stabilizes try changing the resolution to 1024 by 768 which should work in normal mode. if that doesnt work then the monitors internal bulbs may be burnt. an electrician may fix this problem for you.

I have a HP vs17 LCD monitor 17" I relaced the screen and don't remember how the wires go to the back lights. They are the pink and blue wires on the side of the power board. Can you help?

Pink and Blue wires should be for the lamp assemblies, you should have four connectors for the lamps, each pair will be plug into the socket top set and bottom set.
See example here:

Post pictures if you are not sure.

If i turn my computer off for whatever reason, when i try to turn it back on, the monitor remains black, the blue power light flashes and the monitor emits this horrible hissing sound. I can eventually get...

Try this, no guarantees but it may need to be reset. Make sure PC is turned off. Disconnect the monitor from the PC and unplug it from the wall. Hold in the Power button for at least sixty seconds, then replug it in PC and wall. If it is reset it should start normally. If not it needs further diagnosis.

Hewlett-Packard vs17 half fixed, what to do next?

I have also seen this type of problem. Have you checked the large caps on the inverter board, no just the power supply board? Many LCD monitors have 2 caps on the inverter and I have had to replace them from time to time. The next thing to check would be the driver transistors. I hope this helps.
