Question about Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-27FS100 27" TV

1 Answer

Almost There Thanks for the info so far. I finally got my IC561 in the mail and installed it. I had to remove the A board to do so. As I replaced everything a connector for a wire between the flyback and the C board (on very end of the CRT neck) broke. It says "Spark Gap Ground" and has a connector I never saw before. It has a flimsy solder points that broke. Does this have an internal gap in the connector that is a safety thing? I figure I can solder a jumper from the C board to what is left of the solder points to keep active use of the connector. If I order a replacement, will it plug into the flyback? I don't see how it is connected as it goes into the flyback.

I've opened a Sony TV with the same chassis as yours and it looks like your black wire that came loose; it can be attached back. You will have to remove a part from your CRT white connector and one end of the wire should be solder to the 100K ohms resistor and from the resistor is connected to the G2.

    Good Luck.

Yes, there's a posibility that IC561 is partially faulty but on the symptoms you've described, I would advice you to replaced first C539(470uf/25V) and C561 (47uf). I've suspected that these filter electrolytic capacitor is already leaky or dried up...

Four flashing red lights then one green - no picture. This hapoens when I try to turn it on, The screen stays black and has white horizontal line.

Solution
sp.gif sp.gif The STANDBY light will flash if an issue is detected within the television. This can sometimes be resolved by simply following the steps below to reset the television.
  1. Turn off the television. IMPORTANT: For a projection television that uses an internal lamp, wait 5 minutes after turning off the television to allow the lamp to cool before continuing with the following steps.
  2. Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
  3. Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. NOTE: If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.
  5. Turn on the television.
If the issue is still unresolved after following all of the troubleshooting steps, service may be required. Please note the number of times the STANDBY light flashes and relay that information to the service center.

in theses set's there should be a board that has a module that the power chord plugs into this module supllies the motherboard and the componants on it. to be honest it would be best to just let a professional replace any defective chips orboards at this point because i believe it is not just one problem but several and without me beibg hands on it would be difficult to narrow it down to just a simple answer.

0 volts on pin 9 of the flyback

Base on the service manual information, yes IC561 could be defective.
You did not get the +15 volts because the TV failed to power up and the majority of voltages are coming from the flyback transformer.

First, understand the dangers of high voltage and charged capacitors inside a TV set! Discharge all capacitors and the picture tube in a safe way before proceeding.

What kind of IC is it?
If SurfaceMounteD:
1. Heat the IC pins and use a solder wick to remove ALL solder tin.
2. Use a sharp screwdriver or a knife to gently lift the IC from the PCB. Pay close attention if any of the pins is still attached to the PCB, if so, repeat step 1. Be careful, if you break the PCB, the Sony is ready for the dumpster...
3. Put the new IC in place, begin to solder pin 1, and then the pin most far away from pin 1.
4. Solder the rest of the pins, as quick as possible to not overheat the IC. Don't care if solder short circuit the pins.
5. Use a solder wick to remove all eventual short circuits that was the result of 4.
6. Inspect one more time to be 100% sure no short circuits remain.
7. finished.

If mounted through holes:
Same as above, with following additions:
1. a possible addition of a solder sucker.
4. The speed is still important, but since the pins are not so close, you should be able to do it without shorting.
