Your laptop must have wireless adapters and you should be using a wireless router or a wireless access point. if you're already using those devices, your laptops should automatically detect the wireless signal (look for the wireless icon, ususally it's located at the bottom right hand corner of your screen if you are using windows but if you're using mac, you need to enable the airport) and you just need to connect to it (note: you should enter the correct wireless password/network key if it's enabled on your wireless router).

hope this'll help you but if you have other concern, just give the exact model of the wireless router/modem/access poitn that you are using and the wireless adapters installed on the laptops

ciao!

Trying to conect laptop 2 the router

Use an Ethernet cable to connect the network port on the laptop to one of the LAN ports on the router.
Access the web-server "inside" the router.
Use that web-based interface to configure the Wireless Adapter:
* set an SSID (the name of your network)
* set the encryption-level (hint: use 'WPA' or 'WPA2')
* set a password

Then, disconnect the Ethernet cable, and "View Available Wireless Networks".
Select your SSID, and enter the password.

Ethernet gives network signals from computer server with connectivity capacities. Once the ethernet is connected to your computer, once of the computers within the network structure has a modem or signal converter box to capture and distibute signals. Your computer is functioning with ethernet cable connection as arranged default. Recent computers however have wiifii capacities meaning that, the modem box is not ncecssary to make signals recognised. Recent computers have builtin signal recepticles, once the programs wireless features are enbled, any available computer networks aer detected. Howver, the wiifii makes connectivity to networks by requesting password keys if the aletrnate computers have protected the entry. Simply said, your computer is ok to function with ethernet as regular achievement. only when the ethernet is malfunct usually caused by the computer that has the modem disconnecting from yours. Your computer should actually get better networking with only one of the method available either ethernet or wiifii. Attempting to receive signals with wiifii and ethernet at the same time impedes the network speed since the structures may only allow an amount of data passage for each network on the same computer. Use the computer wireless buttons located at the system settings area to disable the wiifii until a computer request within your knownlege request to activate wiiffii. Keep in mind that once your wiifii is enabled, another computer is sharing resoruces makign the computer slower if a password was not set.

How to conect a wireless router to a regular modem

If your modem/router has a USB connectivity, you can connect it via USB. Else you will have to buy an Ethernet PCI Card, which wont cost you much.
I hope this solves your problem. Good Luck ! Kindly Accept my Solution.

to set upa network

http://lifehacker.com/software/wifi/geek-to-live-set-up-a-home-wireless-network-162754.php

there is no "earthnet" connection. it is an ethernet connection. it looks like a phone cable but has larger ends than a phone connector. the router is connected to the computer via an ethernet cable if it needs to be hardwired to a ethernet port or internal ethernet card. a wireless connection only needs to be an add-on internal card w/antenna or a usb connector hub (it looks like a usb flash memory stick)

here is how it's done. netgear has the same type setup.

Check that the wireless drivers are installed properly on both your laptop and desktop. THe certificate error is because your laptop does not "trust" your computer. Under network conections click add a connection ec, and when you try to conect, microsoft should ask you weva to trust the connections from computer to computer that should do it :D

Wireless yes, but ethernet no, why?????

There are two separate IP configurations for the wireless and wired ethernet adapter it could be that the two adapters may be configured differently -- the wired one incorrectly for your home.

It could be a bad ethernet cable.

It could be a bad port on the router.

It could be a hardware problem with the wired network adapter.
