Question about Canon EOS 40D Digital Camera

1 Answer

Brand new Canon 40D doesn't work

Charged the battery until light was red and not blinking. Camera won't even turn on. Checked the instruction manual, but can't find anything I didn't do.
Anything else I can check before I go to the trouble of returm/exchange?

Canon powershot SD1300 IS won't turn on, even with fully charged battery

Things to check first for a camera that won't turn on are battery contact points, and micro switches that are located on the battery and memory card doors. Troubleshooting tips on other things that need to be checked may be seen here. These tips won't work for every case, but they're worth a try.

My Canon T2i camera's red light blinking at the buttom when I turn it on and it's not turning on.

Red blinking light usually means that the battery has not been charged, or has not been charged enough. Make sure to charge it all the way to turn on your camera.

I have 3 blinking red lights

Here are the steps: 1. Make sure you will install a new or fully charged battery/batteries into your camera. 2. Clean the battery contacts. a. Remove the battery/batteries and the memory card from your camera, then wipe the battery contacts with a soft, clean cloth. b. Reinstall the battery/batteries into your camera. Please make sure that you are installing a fresh/ fully charged battery c. Without the memory card, turn your camera on. (If it works then it?s your memory card that is faulty) 3. Please test with the a different battery If you do not have access to another battery Try these steps instead: Please take the battery out of the camera. b. Insert the charger into the unit from the main socket and turn the camera on. If the camera works you will need to replace the battery. If you camera doesn?t switch on you will need to order a No power repair or a new cable. My 40d does not turn on, battery was fully charged, charger showed full light, put battery in, and camera does not turn on. Help!

You may need to remove the battery and use a screwdriver to scratch the battery contact point in the camera. It may have been coated or corroded.

Should the power light be green or red, when I turn camera on it shows a green light then turns red

Red light indicates that the camera is out of charged., Try to charged your battery for 3-4 hrs if you encounter flashing red on a fully charged battery you need to call kodak 1 800 235 6325 ext 12

You can charged you camera using 5V AC Adaptor or a USB cable taht attached into the computer

Wont turn on

Well to be3 a 100% about the battery I would replace it with one that you know or is guaranteed to work. Camera batteries can look OK from outside and be completely collapsed inside.

No Charge lights can indicate NO battery and if there is one inside then it is dead and registers as a no battery ( no charge light)

The red light blinks in very low state, but totally discharged it will not blink and wont blink again until loeft on chareger for about 3-4 hrs to overcome the low state.

Camera turns off when pressing shutter button

Sounds like a compatability problem. If available, try a genuine Canon battery new and fully charged.

Canon 40d won't turn on, LCD is blank.

There are several different things that can cause the camera to not start up. Refer to your user manual to check each of these items. If you don't have your user manual, you can download it here.

1) The battery is not properly installed in the camera. (p.26)
2) Make sure the battery compartment cover is closed. (p.26)
3) Make sure the CF card slot cover is closed. (p.28)

In addition, the battery may not have been properly recharged. Double check that the charger is plugged into a working outlet, and double check that it shows that the battery is fully charged.

If none of these fix the problem then you have a defective camera - one of the switches for the battery compartment or the CF card slot cover may be not properly indicating that the door is closed. If that's the case, you need to either return it to the place of purchase as defective, or send it in to Canon for warranty repair.

Canon 40D can not turn on

Same problem. Fully charged main battery. In my case, I hadn't used the camera in over 6 months. All I did was pull the main battery and then pulled the small CR 2016 button cell battery located inside the main battery compartment and re-inserted both batteries. The camera made a quiet click and then turned on with the main power switch and asked to reset the date and time. Works fine now. If this doesn't work just purchase a new button cell.

Kodak Easyshare CX7530 won't stay powered on

SOLUTION: Fot the past two years, fully charged NiMH and new alkaline (generic and fresh Name Brand batteries) in my CX7530 always gave a red light and immediate power off -- symptoms of low batteries. Today I tried it again with the same problem. This time, I folded up a small piece of stiff paper to depress the small Lithium battery module detect switch in the battery compartment, and put my NiMH batteries back in -- it WORKED for the first time in two years! After removing the paper and reinserting the batteries, it still works. I suspect this somehow recalibrates the low battery detect circuit. I hope it helps you as well.
