I can't figure out how to get it to brodcast wireless! It wont turn on!

  • darkangel026 Mar 30, 2009

I have the same thing...The Power, Ethernet, DSL and Internet lights are all green but there is no Wireless light.

I have internet access now because I plugged in the cable and am using a LAN but Wireless was working on my laptop a few hours ago (this is a sudden problem).

SSID is enabled, my laptop wireless is enabled, I've tried rebooting the modem and restoring default settings and I've been using the same antivirus as always.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated. =)

Apparantly the Wireless light is only on when you are connected to the wireless network. The problem (with my laptop at least) is that it is not detecting the wireless network or any others.

My 2wire modem is working for the desk top after i did a reset but the wireless light is still not lit up and my laptop can;t connect

get into the web page of the device with your browser and the device's IP address.
The device's IP address can be found in its manual, or by searching the model by goole.
The username and password of the web page is usually admin/admin or admin/password.
Browse around to enable the wireless signal.

good luck!

If i disconect the ethernet cable from my laptop my wireless doesnt work at all

Maybe your laptop is configured to be the Internet server that is why every time you disconnect the Ethernet cable you lost connection. Your laptop is the one that gives connection to other computers.

2wire ethernet and wireless lights blinking

They shouldn't become solid. Most lights blink when there is a communication between the devices. It's never a solid connection light.

Adding another computer to network

You can have 4 PCs connecting to your 2 wire 2701hgv or 2700hgv wired or wirelessly. Make sure the DSL light and the internet light is green and lighted up
For wired connection, just plug in the RJ45 cable to the ethernet 1,2,3, or 4 and the other end of the RJ45 cable on your laptop LAN card or network adaptor
For wireless connectivity, SSID is 2wire followed by the last 3 digits of the SN(or serial number) and the WEP key is located at the bottom of the 2wire modem in between 2 bar codes in square brackets. If the WEP key and the SSID was changed before in the modem page, go to the modem page and see what is the latest SSID and WEP key using RJ45 cable connected

I want the wireless light to be on. its the only light thats off

if all the lights on the modem are Green then it means there's no prob with the hardware. just make sure that you're going to use the right WEP key or wireless password. the network name is 2wirexxx, the X is the the last 3 numbers of the SN which can be found on the bottom of your 2wire modem.make sure that your wireless switch is also turned on of course. the wireless light on the modem will lit if it is connected

Yes theres your problem perhaps your parents forgot to pay the bill ? it happens and a simple ring to the ISP will tell you. These days they are very strict on whom they give out information to if your not the holder of that bill(Privacy Rights) you wont get any info.
