THE SCREEN SAYS GO 2 ITUNES 2 RESTORE IPOD. BUT WHEN I PLUGED IT UP IT GOES ALL WHITE AND SAYS DO NOT DISCONNECT.

Try doing a full restore by putting the ipod into recovery mode. Make sure to set it up as a new iPod and not use a backup.

My ipod touch turns on and shows the apple sign and cuts right back off i pluged it up and it did the same thing and i went to i tunes and pluged it up and same thing happend


Hold the power button and home button for 10 seconds to ensure the device is off. Let go.

Hold the home button down, plug in the ipod to the computer, after the screen changes to the itunes plug screen, let go of the home button.

The ipod will now be in recovery mode, and you can attempt to perform a restore within itunes.

If the restore fails, and the ipod screen stays black, this means the battery is dead and must be replaced. If you replaced your battery and this still happens, then your logic board has gone bad.

If you do not have the code/password for the lock on the iPod you will need to restore using iTunes on your computer. Sadly this is the only way of resolving this issue WITHOUT the password. Below is a step by step just in case you need the information. If there is anything else I can be of assistace with, please do let me know. I am eager to help :P

How to restore iPod (ARTICLE NUMBER HT1339)
Open iTunes, and then connect your iPod to your computer using the USB or FireWire cable that came with your iPod.

After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.
Select your iPod in the Source panel and you will see information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes windows.

Click the Restore button. You will be prompted with one or more restore options that may prompt iTunes to automatically download the latest iPod Software.

The 4 possible restore options are: Restore Option

1: Restore - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod. Restore Option

2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod even though a newer version is available. Restore Option

When I went to turn it on it has only a white screen-nothing else there, won't sync, I've tried the 5 ways to restore and there is nothing there.


Have you attempted to reset the ipod? It sounds more like a hardware issue, but a reset may still help. Just in case you are unfamiliar with how to perform a reset i have included step by step instructions below.

Important: If your iPod is frozen or won't turn on, it may be because iPod is paused or the Hold switch is in the locked position. If so, a lock symbol appears on the screen. Slide the Hold switch to the unlocked position and check the screen.
If the iPod is connected to a computer and displays any of the following messages you should eject the iPod from within iTunes instead of resetting it:
Connected. Eject before disconnecting Sync in Progress. Please wait... Do not disconnect If your iPod is frozen or won't turn on, the steps to reset it vary by model. You can easily tell which iPod model you have if you're not sure.

Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.) Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step. Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.

If you are still unable to reset your iPod, use only one finger from one hand to press the Center (Select) button, and one finger from the other hand to press the Menu button.

if you can get it powered on at all with the reset, I would suggest restoring it using itunes. As before i've included the instructions below just incase you are insure on how to do this step.

What we can do at this moment is to try connecting it back to your laptop and try to reset it... follow the steps

  1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
