Your problem could be that the scanner needs to be re-calibrated and the software reset or you have a malfunction on your Lazer pick up or your Decoder IC. Bar codes are made of carbon strips with binary numbers [ 1 & 0] etched into them much like a record or a VCR tape. As the Lazer in your decoder reads the codes it sends the binary numbers to a decoder which turns them into bytes and then sends then on to a CPU where they are processed and sent to a LCD or recorded in RAM. Later they are retrieved by an Encoder which identifies the numbers or the alphabetical letters associated with the bar code. If the bar code is subject to a strong magnetic field it will scramble the digital code by moving the carbon modules holding the intelligence rendering them useless. For some reason your scanner is not reading these codes or is not processing what it's reading. It will take a trained technician with the proper equipment to diagnose the problem correctly and determine where the problem lies. At any rate there are no adjustment or quick fixes for such an item. It contains some highly sophisticated circuitry and will require special test equipment and a technician that is well versed on repairing scanners. dhgill1949
