Thanks for answering my question so soon. But, I'm not interesting in saving energy. I just wanted to know what was better for the modem life. Some people let the modem switched on all the time. And I some people think that the modem needs to rest sometimes. That if we turn the modem off when we don't use the pc, the modem life will be longer.

Thanks again for your kindness in answering.

    sincerely,

    Albert.

If you are looking to save energy in your home, turning off the router will save you some money, but it's not necessary to do so. As long as you don't switch it on and off many times a day.

If your modem is not in a dusty area, it should be OK if you leave it on all the time. Of course my recommendation is to plug it into a surge suppressor/voltage regulator, that will guarantee a longer modem life.

I Wanna know how to login to my router page

  1. using a netgear router
  2. Log in to your NETGEAR router by browsing to http://www.routerlogin.net or http://www.routerlogin.com. Enter the username (admin) and password. By default, the password is password or 1234 unless it has already been changed.
  3. From the left-hand navigation menu of the Router Manager, select Set Up > Wireless Settings.

3. From the center screen, select your encryption type from under the Security Options heading.

    • If the wireless network passphrase is visible, review it and use it to log devices onto your network.
If it is not visible, you can change your wireless passphrase; however, changing the passphrase will cause you to lose your wireless connection. Connect your computer to the router with an Ethernet cable before entering a new passphrase into the text box and clicking Apply
hope this helps

If you are using an ethernet connection then you should not need an installation disk. If you are connecting through USB then you can download the drivers from motorola's website.

Need router or modem for ATT DSL 6.0

Hi,
Your laptop has got a modem built in, but it is intended for dial up 56Kbps, not DSL. So they are both right. But if you want to use a DSL internet service you will need to buy either a DSL router or modem. You should not need to buy bothas the router will have the modem built in. Your ISP may have a prefered model and will probably sell you one at a fairly cheap price or you can get one from your local PC world. If you only have the one Laptop at home you can buy either the router or the modem. The modem will probably be cheaper. But for around $60 you can buy a router I prefer wireless. This will allow you around 4 connections and more importantly frees you up from having to be directly and closely connected and allows you to work in various places around the home without trailing cables everywhere. Your ISP will advise you on the settings you require. I advise you to enable all the security options on any wireless devices. I hope this was useful.
