Question about Midland Amateur&Consumer Radio Replacement Batteries: 70B-75.....1400 mAh 7.2V NiCD

1 Answer

Thanks so much for all your help!

You have been so very helpful Pat and my husband and I appreciate all you've been doing to help us research a battery for our little guys firetruck! But on the battery it says "Use only the manufacture's battery or could cause a fire or explosion", so we want to find the exact one and we're afraid to purchase another from another company other than Safety 1st. But Thanks for all your help and we know where to find other products that you can help us with in the future. Thanks again.
Mr & Mrs. Cote
P.S. the other info you asked for on the battery from the very last email, wasnt on the battery. very little info on this thing.

Wish I could do more for you. Keep in mind that safety first does not make the batteries. There are only three major battery suppliers in the world.

Good Luck in finding your battery.

Radio shack sales a universal power adapter. <CAUTION> make sure the adapter is set to the correct voltage and that the tip is set to the correct polarity. The only other option is to order the adapter from Cobra.

Howdy John;

You might try going online to Ham radio outlet, they carry just about everything for ham radio. your telex kit may not be made any longer but you might be able to use a Terminal Node Controller in its place. Kantronics makes one of the best TNC's around.

How do I set a channel to scan

Take your radio to your local Motorola dealer for reprogramming. Usually the capacity of a scan zone is 16 channels. I am not certain on this radio without doing some research. Your local dealer will be able to help.

Cobra set up

Hello John;
You can ground both the antenna mast and the antenna. your best bet is to place an 8ft grounding rod in the ground from radio shack or local two-way radio shop. Then connect the grounding rod to your mast. You can get a polyphaser from your local two-way radio shop this will connect between your antenna and the radio. it will also be grounded to the grounding rod. This should leave you in pretty good shape.

Happy DXing
