Visuals look like color is displaced and slightly blurry... fix?

Not worth fixing. This has picture tubes that are expensive to replace. To repair this requires way more expertise than can be communicated via fixya. Your money would be better spent on a new TV

Picture is blurry

Check all of your video connections and make sure everything is connected properly. Make sure your video sources i.e. cable box, etc. are configured to the proper output resolution. Since your T.V. is a rear projection CRT, I would recommend you do a convergence calibration. This is usually the problem with those kinds of televisions when the picture gets blurry- especially if it has recently been moved. The convergence procedure re-aligns the electron guns inside the T.V. Consult your manual or download one if you are unsure how to perform the convergence calibration.

This model kp-51HW40 uses two of the STK-392-560 CONVERGENCE IC CHIPS.

Usually just both chips need to be replaced and the set adjusted with the Sony remote---You can buy a pair of the chips on Ebay for less than 14 dollars plus shipping.

If you can do this repair you can save the set and a lot of money as most shops will charge 300 or more for this kind of repair.

I can give you general instructions if you think you can do it---there are places on the internet that sell
kits for this--usually very pricey and many of the included parts are not usually needed.

IF CONVERGENCE WILL NOT ADJUST: BOTH CHIPS NEED TO BE REPLACED.

52" RCA HDTV projection TV 4 years old and just started getting

This unit needs repair your convergence needs alignment, which with the RCA model needs to be done by a tech and the Blue card is either dead or is dying. You need to take it in and evaluate weather or not it is worth repairing or just wpending the money on a new T.V. - You can expect to pay around $350 - $800 to get this repaired, plus pick up and drop off. I would not endevor to do this myself as there are other things that can be damaged when messing with it.

This is a serviceman only job.  It isn't worth it.  The parts and labor are at least $500.
