I've seen the exact same problem on my end, but only when using a weak wireless connection. Two issues I suggest to be the cause, one being a wireless connection that is not quite as strong as you may be believing that it is ( I've seen that quite a bit on my end ). That means that I.E. or FireFox may SEEM to be working great with whatever wireless connection a person may have but in fact it is very close to the edge of termination. The other possibility that I have seen is simply the Yahoo server that uploading the program to you is being over-used, meaning you may have to wait until a more favorable time or TRY to pick on a different Yahoo server, such as the British, Aussie, or Asian server. Just make sure you get the version of YM that speaks your language.

Reinstalling yahoo messenger or doing a system restore should solve the problem, try both ways.

Downloading Programs with the new Windows Vista

You need a special version for Vista if it's not what you tried to install already. It can be found here:

Vista also pops up annoying prompts to confirm every system change, which may cause problems. This is caused by User Access Control, and I can walk you through temporarily disabling it if you can't get the above version installed straight away.
