This is pretty simple to get your Megallan working again. GPS'S a lot of times just need update for newest software to have everything work. If you go to www.magallangps.com and it will give you all the information you need to do this. Also another thing i have my customers to all the time and it works, is if you take a trip down to Best Buy, or another local computer chain near you, most of them from my experience will do it for you for free. So, if you want to just do that, it will make it real easy for you. Thanks Mike, (Megallan Expert)
Hi,
Glad to be of service.
As much I want to give you the best answer for your concern, you did not specifically mentioned what is the state of the computer. But don't need t worry let me give you suggestion for your concern. Since you mentioned that somebody handed you down the laptop. What I can suggest is do a fresh installation of the operating software. If in case, the previous owner did not give you the installation CD for the operating software, all you need to do is to buy one for your own. It will be best to check the specification of your laptop before buying one so that you know what software you will be buying.
I hope I answered your concern.
Thanks a lot!!
Buying any vehicle is an expensive proposition. Even the best techs can sometimes be fooled when buying in-person. Buying a vehicle with "built in" excuses (re-boot etc) is not a good idea. If the vehicle does not perform correctly and is not ready to "rock and roll" when you take it. I suggest that you don't buy it. A "good deal" can quickly turn into a nightmare if there are problems. If you buy "as is" or need to have something corrected, the seller is 400 miles away and you will be on your own. Likely you are excited about getting the car but sometimes the facts are not what you really want to hear. Been in the business a long time and would NEVER buy without looking it over and driving it.
That's a lot of miles for a 2005. I'm guessing mainly "highway miles"? I would ask about the scheduled maintenance that has been done on it...has it been regular? Oil, transmission, coolant? Tune-up?
You may want to take it to a garage and have them give it the once over. Run an electronic diagnostic. It may cost you $100 or so, but it may be worth it.
If you are picking up only analog channels, you will need a converter box. You can pick a converter box up for $49 or $59 dollars at walmart or target. Best Buy is way overcharging if they are selling them at $100.
The fan sould be repairable. I know Best Buy isn't going out of business anytime soon (unless they are shutting down down a store in your area) but Circuit City is. You can contact Dell as well using the 800 number and give them the service tag number on the computer. That way you can see if its still under warranty.
Can't do much without knowing the manufacturer of the computer..
