Question about Dishwashers

Rollers on racks continue to break, Maytag fix is buy entire new assembly like part number 99003585 wihich is 32.95 each time

I have a Maytag stainless from dishwasher model MDB 6601 I believe and it started with with the tray rollers breaking about a year in. I used to be able to go the dealer I purchased it from and have them get me the indivdual rollers to do the repalcement but that has morphed into entire new adjusters that cost over 30.00 a pop and I have done this twice. Any advise would be helpful.

A nice job of crafting parts, however they are expensive. Your fix costs $120.00 and that is out of most peoples reach I believe. I purchased one replacement support and salvaged parts from the old one. If this would have been available when the warranty expired I might have done this. I do admire the craftsmanship, to bad Maytag did not do better R&D.

Dishwasher rack falls off

Could it be that KitchenAid wants you to replace the entire rack? Check with a local appliance parts supplier if you can because the roller must be a hot replacement item.

Upper rack track wheel broke

You can try to obtain the part from KitchenAid or an appliance parts supplier. However, you may only be able to get the complete assembly.

My maytag dishwasher door will not latch shut, and all of the lights keep flashing. What does this mean and how can I fix it? or will I have to buy a new one....?

Hi- Yes, these can be a problem. It is most likely the latch assembly as long as you don't see any obstructions and the racks are going all the way back. Sometimes you can carefully bend the strike (the part that sticks out from the frame) and get it to latch but try this carefully, you don't want to break that! The latch assembly is about $60. Part # 8193830. Good Luck

2 upper rack rollers cracked in Maytag #MDB7600AWS - cant find simple replacement rollers for inside track - 1 1/4" - of upper rack.

JP Weld works great on repairing these junky Maytag parts. Note that they don't have a replacement for these upper wheels and a guy is selling expensive stainless steel replacements. The round connector broke off of ours that holds the wheel to the rack. My wife found a plastic button that fit within the space and we glued it with JP Weld epoxy (water and temperature resistant). 10 washes later, still working great! I expect it will "heal" any other plastic parts. NEVER will I buy a Maytag again!

I need the upper and lower rack rollers replaced but do not know the part numbers. I am looking for a parts diagram on the internet but have been unable to find one. GE Nautilus, Model GSD2200G00CC

http://www.myapstore.com/Omega/Dispatcher?REQUEST=HOMEPAGE

Start at the link above, enter your model number in the box near lower part of screen, you will then be asked to verify by clicking it on the next page.

When you have done this, the next page should default to a choice of "body parts", see if your rack roller assemblies don't appear in the list you will find there.

I did this and seemed to work well at finding the upper and lower rack assemblies. ( I am pretty sure you have to buy assembly and not just rollers.

Hope this help.

It has started sounding really, really loud with a long grinding sound and then like a swishy sound for a short break, then the grinding sound again.

Sounds like a piece of broken glass or hard fruit pit stuck in the garburator. Remove the botom rack and disassemble the eniter assembly located below the bottom rack. Keep track of the order of the parts until you reach the stainless steel garburator blade. If you are not mechanicaly inclined, take video of the dissasembley to help you put things back together. You will probably find a foreign object by the time you reach the blade. Continue disassembling the assembly below the garburator to ensure that the drainage ports are not obstructed. Consider re-assembling without the garburator blade to avoid recurring problems. Substitute Garburator blade with routine disassembley and cleaning every 3-6 months. Sadly thats the best way to overcome the failure prone Garburator mechanism. When its time to buy a new D/W, buy one with a filter instead of a garburator. I recommend Miele and recomend against all Whirlpool brands (Maytag, Jennair, KitchenAid, Kenmore, Whirlpool, WhiteWestinghouse, etc.)

When Garburators Jam, you risk overheating that can melt the overpriced circuit board or overheat the motor. Either problem means discarding the dishwasher becasue the repair cost would be too high. The Garburator is a disgusting idea anyway. Instad of allowing food particles to sit at the bttom, the sme particels are minced and sprayed over the dishes that you are trying to clean.

hi Problems with the dish racks usually occur because the racks have been jammed back into the tub housing after they're fully loaded. Careless handling can exert enough force to crack or break the roller wheels or throw the racks off the tracks. The solution is easy: Stop jamming the racks.
The repair is easy, too. Remove the racks by pulling out the tiny metal pins that hold them in the tracks. Or simply lift up on the racks and pull them out of the tracks. Then reinstall the racks on the tracks so that they roll smoothly. If the rollers are cracked or broken, replace them with new ones of the same type. The rollers may be friction-fit to their hubs. Pull them off for replacement. Or, if they are held by tiny spring clips, pull the clips out with pliers, or pry them out with the tip of a screwdriver. If you can't pull the rollers off for replacement, remove and replace the entire rack.

The bottom rack of the dishwasher is always coming off the "track" or what passes for one. The wheels seem too small or the rack isn't wide enough Makes it very diificult to push in or pull out.

A noisy wash cycle or water that won't drain are problems that, for the most part, can be handled yourself. We'll discuss how you can pinpoint these water-related problems in the next section.
