Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

I am currently on vacation and I was taking pictures with my Olympus FE-230 and when I now turn it on it tells me that I need to format my card but in doing this it will delete all my pictures. I cannot...

I know how it can be frustrating not to loose your files..............my recommendation may be a bit hard but it is tried and tested.

  1. Have your camera format it that is if you believe that the card is not faulty.
  2. Use the card any how you want!
  3. Get a recovery software which will recover all files that was deleted no matter what you did to the card and use it to recover all your old pictures . (i can provide this software for free if you so wish)

good luck and let me know the outcome

Sure, the old software will continue to work just fine. If you want to update it, you can download the current versions of all (free) Nikon software from

I am trying to transfer pics from my camera to my pc ??? i plugged it in and card is in camera but nothing?? help?

Here are some steps to run through to make sure the camera works as you'd expect it:

  1. Ensure that all cables are properly secured from the computer to the camera.
  2. Ensure that the memory card has not been dislodged from the camera.
  3. Check the camera's memory socket and the memory card for debris. A can of 'compressed air' can work wonders (typically available at any computer store).
  4. Make certain that the port connecting the camera to the computer is not damaged. Look for any bent pins in the camera's memory slot. Try replacing the camera cable. If the camera uses a USB port, try another USB port. If you don't have another USB port available, try plugging in another USB device to verify that the USB port is working.
  5. Check the power source on the camera. If you're using batteries while attempting to transfer the pictures to the PC, try changing your batteries, recharge the batteries, or use an A/C adapter.
  6. Try reinstalling the digital camera software on your computer. In most cases, reinstalling over top of the existing software will resolve this issue.
  7. Take the media out of the digital camera and attempt to download it to another computer. If all else fails, try formatting the camera media. Most newer-generation digital cameras equipped with an LCD screen have a menu option that can format your media.
Hope this helps.

I was shooting yesterday in a snowstorm with my Canon G11. Now the screen is all blotchy, apparently with moisture trapped inside. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Have the camera at a repair shop as soon as possible. Leaving the moisture in there can cause further issues, especially if it's salt water. The place that is wonderful for the Powershots (that's all they work on) is: www.camerasandparts.com They don't charge much at all and they do wonderful work on these cameras. That's where a lot of people go for help with these cameras. Good luck.

Software Issue

You don't need any special software.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as WIndows Photo Gallery or Picasa.
