Insuring good airflow is a great recommendation. One thing that helped tremendously was a system maintanance. Go to Dashboard/System/Memory/Hard Drive yellow, blue, blue, left button, right button, blue, blue and confirm with the green button. Restart and let it update online.

I've had a similar problem. It usually stems from the system overheating. Make sure your unit is getting enough airflow.

This page has a good run down of common Xbox problems and how to fix them yourself.

Heey i just bought a new xbox 360 slim 250gb and my network connection is fine but when it prompts me the update the update keeps failing and ive tried everything on xbl support but nothings working please...

Hey there,

This is likely a problem with your network connection in which it is unable to connect to XBOX Live. I would need to know the make and model of your router to go into further detail on this, so all I can provide you with is some general information to help resolve the issue.

Go to this website and select the router you are connected to: http://portforward.com/
Skip the Advertisement if it pops up, then select Xbox Live 360. Follow the instructions to set up the proper ports for your router.

If that doesn't work, try plugging in your 360 with an Ethernet Cable, directly to the modem, then download the update.
Let me know if that works :)

How to fix xbox 360 "red rings of death"??

How to Fix Red Ring of Death - A Step by Step Action Plan

Remember to rate me a 4 out of 4 thumbs up thanks

1) Disassemble Xbox 360 Case
Obtain your case separately. By a fine tip screwdriver, poke the grayed out holes and back of poke the small rectangle holes. Get the Faceplate Off and move the latch up on the DVD drive up as you remove it. Unscrew metal case which is under the plastic case.

Following is the image of video (How to disassemble xbox 360 case) which comes with James Dean's Professional Xbox 360 repair guide. If you are not comfortable with instruction you can use this video to disassemble your Xbox 360 case.

Click On Above Video Image To Watch Video On How To Your Repair Xbox 360

2) How To Remove Motherboard Safely

Unplug all cables connected to motherboard and associated small devices and take DVD drive out. After DVD, get the fan and motherboard out of the xbox 360 case. Make sure you do this gently.

Following is a quality video which can show how you can remove motherboard safely.
2.jpg

3) Crucial Motherboard Disassembles.

Turn the mother another side, using the screwdriver snoop off the X-clamp which you can find under heat sink. Check out following an image of a video which came with Xbox 360 repair guide which will make your process easy of "snoop off the X-clamp".
I will suggest you to do this step very gently if you are not comfortable doing this refer following video which comes with James Dean's 360 repair guide.

3.jpg

4) Heat Sink Unscrewing.

After snoop of X-clamp you have to unscrew heat sink to obtain CPU and GPU.I will advice you don't hurry to finish this work, please follow all steps else it will damage your xbox 360. If you are not confident do use Professional Xbox 360 repair guide.

4.jpg

5) GPU And CPU Cleaning.
Next step is to clean GPU (graphic processing unit) and CPU (central processing unit) If you do this step right it will help to stop xbox 360 freezing. This is very important and critical step so just make sure you do it right.

5.jpg

6) Appling Arctic Silver

Now you have to apply arctic silver thermal compound gently over GPU.
You will get this arctic silver thermal compound in any computer hardware shop for $1-$2.

6.jpg

Set it for 15 to 20 minutes then place 2 nylon washers on each screw on the heat sink then place the screws back in motherboard then add two more nylon washers to screws.

Then,

Place the heat sink on the peak of screws then push them down slight, finally screw them up. Try to make it reasonably tight.

Get everything back together and see everything is fitted properly. Now, Turn your Xbox 360 on.

I always like to educate people so I tried to describe a whole process in my words, Videos can make this whole process lot easier. I will suggest you to check out James Dean's Xbox 360 repair guide(Click Here To Visit) which will surely help you out to fix your XBOX 360. Also I have done a detail review of James Dean guide below, so don't forget to check it out if you need a pro help. please rate me high thanks

3 red lights on xbox 360 tryed rebooting, unpugging everything and rebooting, also lying down and rebooting, taking fan off and rebooting still nothing happening . . .please help it was working 6 hours ago...

Unfortunately the Xbox 360 will need to be professionally repaired.
These red light errors usually happen with little warning. Sometimes you may see strange colors or it will start to freeze, however often times it strikes without warning.
The main cause of the red light errors is overheating. In the future try to keep the console in a well ventilated area and always play with the console standing upright rather than laying flat. When the Xbox 360 lays flat the entire bottom surface area gets very little air flow, causing the console to run much hotter than if it is upright.
If your warranty is up or you just don't feel like dealing with Microsoft; the company I work for GATpro Repairs offers a flat rate repair service. We even pay for return shipping. Let me know if you have any further questions.
Good Luck!

Xbox 360 freezing

You will need to have your XBOX opened up and have your GPU reworked. What I mean by that is have your X Clamp taken out and replaced. Here is a website that may be able to help you out. http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/ This has worked for me for the last 20 XBOX 360 I fixed so far. Good luck.

XBox 360 - freezing

i suggest unplugging the cat5 cable(the one that provides internet access) or remove the wifi adaptor and test if it runs good. if that doesn't work, then your problem lies with the actual xbox hardware. if it works, you have a very unstable internet connection.
