Question about Whirlpool Air Conditioners

1 Answer

Whirlpool air conditioner - 8000 BTU - window unit

Air conditioner was beeping. It had somehow switched the thermostat setting from 68 to 86 or 88 degrees and was just blowing air, not cooling. Manual buttons wouldn't respond, but with the remote I was able to lower the setting back down to 68, and it went into the proper cool mode again. Luckily I was home to hear the beeping, or I would have come in to a hot room. The customer service number was no help.

NEED HELP TO REPLACE WIRES ON CAPACITOR ON GE ROOM AIR CONDITIONER 8000 BTU

with capacitors it doesn't matter which wire goes on which terminal
if it has just 2 terminals then a wire on each
if it has 4 terminals then one wire on one set and the other wire on the other set
A set is two terminals side by side
However if you are still undecided , get an electrician to fit the wires.

Model # hwr08xc7 8000 btu. The air conditioner turns on but all it does is blow warm air no matter what setting i have it on.

you can take off the front cover and under the control panel, on newer units have a relay that the low voltage thermostat controls and by pass it. WARNING IT WILL NOT CYCLE NOW AND WILL NEED TO BE UN PLUGGED WHEN DESIRED TEMPITURE IS REACHED. IF NOT IT WILL BURN UP THE UNIT.. this not a 4 sure fix but can get you up and cooling 4 free, or if this doesn't fix it the unit might be junk.. hope this was of help..klick yes

Freezing up 8000 btu window unit

Coils may be dirty, filter may be dirty, water not draining or low on freon.

8000 btu window unit freezes up on all settings. I have completely cleaned out the unit and it is at a slight angle to allow the water to drip from the bottom outside. I am wondering if this is a problem...

It may be the environmental conditions such as a lot of humidity and the way air moves through the area, if the coil frosts completely it's lack of load/airflow per load, if the coild frosts up partially its from operating in low ambient or lack of refrigerant.

If this is the Danby 8003 you mentioned, here's a link to the unit's manual. That should get you what you need. Good Luck!

Whirlpool Air Con Drainage issue

Yes, there should be a place for the condensate to drain outside. It's apparently clogged and the drip pan is overfilling. Look for a tube or an opening outside where the condensate should be exiting. This needs to be unclogged.

Noise

Adding cloth or any other sound absorbing material will not work. There is not enough room to add anything appreciable in the fan area.
