I have tried three different +R discs and none will work. The player says there is a problem with the disc, wants to restart, self-check and then says the same thing....How can three different manufacturer discs all be problems?

This seems to be a common problem on DVD recorders.

If a DVD Lens cleaner (with brushes) fails to fix the problem, then it could be that you have
grease particles on the lens. Do the following:

Note. If unit is still under warranty, you may nullify this by opening unit up

You will need:
Screwdrivers as necessary
Cotton Bud sticks (also known as Q-tips)
Isoproponal/Isopropyl Alcohol (small bottle comes with some CD/DVD cleaners)
Compressed Air cannister/aerosol

1. After disconnecting unit, leave standing for 15 minutes
2. Unscrew lid and remove
3. Carefully remove DVD lens cover
4. Blast whole area with compressed air to remove dust
5. Dip one end of cotton bud in Isoproponal, and very carefully wipe DVD lens (just one wipe
should do.)
6. Now wipe lens with dry end of cotton bud, and leave a few seconds to dry
7. Carefully replace DVD lens cover (watch out for ribbon cables)
8. Replace Lid
9. Reconnect, switch on and test

After I'd tried every other way possible, this method finally worked for me!

I had that exact same problem. I would record a bunch of dvds with no problems for months and then some and one day it doesn't work. Only this showed up E4 EA03738B. However I've found the solution. Instead of going out and returning the recorder or buying new dvds just purchase a Laser Lense Cleaner. It's a dvd cleaner. Works like a charm.

Try using old-fashioned 2x DVD-RW discs, eg the cheap ones from Datawrite.
This seems to work in my machine MOST of the time.

My tas cam ld-74 will not record me at all i can here me thru my headset but i cannot record with my recording software

If you can hear the mike with your headset, I would assume that there is no electronic problem. Check the disk space on your PC to see if the disk is full (a full disk would prevent the software from recording). Check to see if you have the output file defined and targeted to a disk drive that has free space.

Hi, Have just purchased Samsung DVD HDD recorder (DVD-SH855). Everything works great except the timer recording. When i schedule a recording, the system wont start recording. The recording light flashes...

I had the same issue. It turns out that the recorder has to be switched off otherwise it won't record. The unit will power itself on at the scheduled time and record your program. It doesn't make any sense to me why this would be a requirement but it solved the problem for me.

You need to go into the set up menu and select recording options. On the recording options menu, scroll down to dubbing options. On the dubbing options menu select either VCR to DVD or DVD to VCR.
Recording and Dubbing are not the exactly the same thing. You use the record buttons to record TV directly to VCR/DVD you use the dubbing buttons and set up to record DVD to VCR or VCR to DVD.
Hope this helps.

Invalid disc prompt,whenever i install a disc

This is a dedicated audio recorder. Therefore, you must use dedicated audio discs (not data discs). You can tell the difference as audio discs specify the recording time (usually 80mins) instead of data capacity (usually 700MB).

When you have the right disc inserted, press the record button & it will go into record standby, ready to record. First, set a level, then press record again, and you are recording.
