I am still getting the cartridge error read on my Lexmark 6150 printer all-in-one. I have tried unplugging everything, removing the cartridges and then resetting them, cleaning the bar, wiping off the contacts. Nothing has worked. Help!

Cartridge error on Lexmark 6150. I have tried unplugging everything, cleaning everything. The printer makes no effort to print either black or color - it moves briefly on the rod and then the error code comes on.

Either the cartridge is completely dead and is not being detected by printer .
or
u hve not selected the cartridge in a print source window while installing the cartridge.
above possibilities are supposed to be looked out to rectify this problem.

pls do rate the solution

thanks.

How long have you owned the printer? Are these Lexmark brand print cartridges?
Thanks,

Hi,
Practically you have done everything needed , to get the old horse to gallop again. Try replacing the cartridge to check. Both the color and black cartridge is giving you problems or its just the one out of the two.

Thanks

I think it should be wrong cartridge that is installed in the control program.
Go to control program and select color or black, new or used, close out and try a test page.

or
It is also better to try to disconnect all the connections and then reconnecting it properly.

or
Clean the ****** with a paper towel (another page talks about re-lubricating the thing, but that was not necessary in my case). The towel will be black (ink residu, presumably), but there you go printing to your heart’s desire again.

Thanks

Is it showing any kind of error like 'Hardware Error: 0502'?

In the above mentioned solution, it is 'Clean the parts with a paper towel'....

Is it the 50c error? I believe that is something to do with the printer not being able to "read" the cartridge.

Grab a cotton bud or soft tissue, moisten it, and then clean the contacts inside the cartridge holder, and also the contacts on the cartridge. Make sure it's pretty clean. =-]

Well, the cartridge could very well be completely dead (shorted out) if the cleaning both of them didn't work. It's expensive to buy new ones for the sake of testing this theory, but if you are really with no other option, buy one black and just remove the colour and see if it still persists.

Try first unplugging power and usb cable.
Removing cartridges, putting them back and restarting.

If the simple reset above did not work , follow the whole procedure illustrated here:

Reason for error can be a non recognised cartrige, in this case tou fix it by unplugging printer and pulling out cartriges following below procedure.
If this does not work may by cartridge contact dirty, you will have to wipe the metal rod making contact with the cartridge with a kleenex and isopropy alcohol, as the problem is contact with cartridge.
If this did not fix it check Encoder strip, follow procedure on website below to fix it:

My black ink all of a sudden won't print and I get an error message that says remove tape from cartridge...there is no tape...it is a Lexmark 6150

If the problem continues even after re-seating the black cartridge and cleaning its nozzles, then it could be a faulty cartridge issue. Replace it with a new genuine Lexmark cartridge.

Installed refilled ink catriges, both black and color used for a few days all was well then, it reads Catridge Error -Error: 50C Go to users guide. what do I do Now cannot find users guide. plzzz help.

Though Lexmark does not recommend using refilled inks. You may refer to this article from the Lexmark website on Cartridge Error 50C and Other Errors on the Lexmark X5100/X6100 Series LCD Screen. If this does not help, try to insert a genuine Lexmark cartridge to determine if your other cartridge is faulty. Thanks.

Won't print reads error code 50c

I have to ask this question of you, just to make sure this is not an issue. Are you using a factory new ink cartridge?
Please consider the following:
If you are using a refilled or third party cartridge that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead.
If you are using factory new cartridges, then please call the manufacturers Technical Support for assistance with the warranty on the cartridges
