I can help you fix the BUSY Error or Error 99 of your Canon EOS Rebel XS .
Installation of this Canon EOS Rebel XS firmware version 1.06 update will solve these problems:
Some cameras may exhibit a phenomenon in which the LCD monitor does not display, the shutter does not release, and the BUSY indication remains lit in the viewfinder.
The message, "Err 99 Shooting is not
possible. Turn the power switch to<OFF> and <ON> again or
re-install the battery", appears on the camera's LCD monitor, and after
the above operation is carried out,the LCD monitor displays in a
language that is different from the actual language setting.

(With a Olympus Camedia 5000, after many years every picture I take has evenly spaced lnnes across the image. It's both on the screen and when it's printed off through the computer. I changed memory cards but still have same condtion. Also tried shooting with all kinds of different settings but same condition)

Hey sbrittannia, This camera does not have what is called live preview where you can see what you're shooting and compose the image on the LCD screen. What it does have is image review which should display the image just taken on the LCD screen for about 2 seconds. If your camera is not doing this it means image review has been turned off. You can turn image review on or off under custom setting 6 which is described on page 88 of your camera manual. I have included a link to a PDF download of your camera manual in case you need it. I hope this helps! http://www.nikonusa.com/pdf/manuals/noprint/D80_noprint.pdf Sincerely, Allan Go Ahead. Use Us.

In order to shoot "HI" TIFF images first set the Image Size option to either "5M 2592x1944" or "3:2 2592x1728." Next, choose "HI" as the Image Quality option.
"HI" is only available in one of the manual exposure modes (P, S, A or M) and is not available in the "Auto" shooting mode. If "HI" is selected and the camera is switched to "Auto" the Image Quality will automatically switch to "FINE" mode and a JPEG image will be recorded.
Additionally, "HI" is only available in "S" Single frame Continuous shooting.
