My laptop just got wiped of everything and restored with XP it now won't allow me to connect to the internet.

1. You will need to load the drivers for the Network interface card.
Your Dell customer support representative can assist with this or the internet service provider ( cable or DSL) .you will need the restore disk.
If you are not savvy as to how to install the network card drivers.
Here is the Microsoft instruction set and the explanation for where the drivers can be located for a third party driver.
The manufacturers site is a good source for updating the network card drivers also. You may also need to update the motherboard drivers. These are also located at the manufacturers site.

Dell Inspiron 600M video memory error - doesn't matter Safe Mode - starts on Startup - comes up with video memory error only when running diag. Thanks!

this means the drivers for the vga or video card for that matter is corrupted or not installed. Reinstalling should solve the problem. Below is the website to download drivers for your dell pc.

My Dell Inspiron 600m will not connect to the Internet using DSL.

I see..if you are trying to connect it using an external modem...and a cable connection probably have to install the right driver for the ethernet card ..if you use this port default sometimes it gets from the windows the right driver ..but only for a few common network cards ....and it is a vry big chance that it installed a wrong driver and you do not use it and not needed it until now ..
anyway ...if you use an internal modem it is probably the same problem can find the drivers for network here ......there are for XP os ..
but ...better go to device manager ...scan for hardware changes to see what drivers are missing ...exactly ...keep in mind that they may appear installed ..but not have the right driver for it ...but another one installed by windows automatically ...

after the drivers in place ...for dsl ...just choose to get an ip adress automatically fromn the tcp/ip protocol...and will work ..

Installed Vista now won't connect to ethernet .

You should be able to find the right device drivers by going to dell support page and looking up your model. It should list all drivers. Find the one for Vista and download it from there.

This should get you there.

Dell Inspiron 5100

You can try checking the BIOS first see if its disabled in the BIOS to boot to the BIOS turn on your computer Press bios2.jpg during POST to enter the system setup program.

once in the BIOS you might have a multi page view, or a one page view, look for the INTEGRATED NIC see if its enabled or disabled. just enable it and restart the system then:

see if it works. hit me back with the result.
