Question about Intel D845EPI (INTELKD845EPILPAK10) Motherboard

1 Answer

Computer is not working, changed power supply and is sti dead

Yesterday I came home and my computer was off ( I had left it downloading a program when I left to the store). I tried to turn it on and nothing, nothing has any power. Today I got a new power supply and it still does the same thing. I noticed now that there is a green light on the MB so I switched back the power supply and it is lit with it as well, so I know the MB is getting power. The only new items on my computer were added over a month ago so I doubt they had any part in this but here's what was added. I upgraded the ram to 2Gb and installed a Radeon 9250 video card. I wore a ground strap when installing these parts so I don't think I damaged anything by it. Did I overload the MB with any of those devices or was it just Time? Also is there a place to pick up a MB cheap?

Thanks,
Miles

Try to unplug the power cable from the system for 2 minutes and then turn the PC on.

If that does not work, then look for the battery of the motherboard, it would be like a coin. Use clippers and remove it for 2 minutes and put it back in and power the system.

If that does not work then try and remove the one RAM at a time and restart your system.

If all the above steps does not work, then you would have to replace your MB.

Hello here is the home page:

http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/ussoho1/Product/optiplex-gx280

I think you have some kind of a virus or malware on your system.

Install this program and make a full scan:

http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/

You maybe have to start the pc in failsafe mode by pressing F8 while you reboot.

Install also a better FREE antivirus program:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5201

Please uninstall any other antivirus programs before you install microsoft security essentials. Run a full scan when installed and updated. It`not great to have more than one anti virus program installed. Most antivirus programs have a background scanner running to protect you from virus vhile you surf on the internet open a file etc. With more than one antivirus program the pc`s performance will be decreased.

There are a lot of things that can cause a computer to shut down. This could also be the power supply.Try also to renew the thermal grease between the cpu and the fan but BE CAREFULL not to damage the cpu.
If you are unsuccessfull at resolving the problem visit a computer repair shop.

When you talk about checking memory, it's the physical RAM stick inside the computer. RAM does not have sectors like a hard disk drive. If it does happen to be bad I'd replace it with at least 1GB to 2GB. 512MB is really low.

Good luck

Intel desktop d845epi in the motherboard is not powering on.plz send a solve procedure.urgent

computer not power on can be caused by 2 thing, first is your power supply was dead, and the second is your motherboard was broken
try to connect another power supply, if your motherboard can power on it mean your power supply was dead if still not power on it mean your motherboard was dead, change the motherboard with new one

Asus mb wl300 amd 64 4000+ won't boot to bios.

To make sure it isn't anything else, pull all cards, and drive cables from the board so the only thing left connected is the power connectors to the motherboard, the speaker, and the power button. Pull all the ram cards.

Now power up the computer. If you hear a series of beeps then the computer recognizes there is no ram on the board. At this point I would take the power supply out and have it tested. If you do not hear a series of beeps I would still have the power supply tested as it could be the 12v is fine but the 5 and 3.3 volt side is bad.

If power supply tests good then I would replace both the motherboard and processor. You take a risk of burning a new processor if it's the motherboard causing the problems.

ASUS p5vdc-MX motherboard won't boot

The light is probably the power light which is ok, but from past experience it sounds like the board is dead for one reason or other. Is it still under warranty? If it is take it back to where you got it, with the purchase docket if you have it and talk to them about what you have tested and ask for a replacement. If it is out of warranty, try ebay or use www.staticice.com.au to search for the same motherboard if you want to rebuild the system without having to reload windows.

what kind of computer is it? how old is it? have you added, removed or changed hardware recently? have there been any power spikes, outages or surges lately while the computer was running? lastly are the voltage settings 120V/240V on the power supply set correctly? it sounds like the power supply is dead from what i've read but i can't be sure because there are many reasons this could be happening, i.e. the processor gets too hot while the system is trying to start and the computer shuts down to prevent damage to it, also have you tried plugin the system into another wall outlet or socket on your power strip? if no hardware has been add, removed or changed. you can start with a power supply but if after that it still won't power up there's a deeper cause to look for!

hope this helps
