Turn your appliance off and unplug it and remove nearby food to a cooler and use a hair dryerat least enough so that you can get it out.

If you want to just get the ice out you could turn off the fridge and defrost every thing, i.e. you have to not have food in it that will spoil, but basically plan to be without the fridge freezer for a day and take all the food out - turn it off / unplug it and let it warm up with the doors open ( it should only take a coulple of hours at the most . Clean it all out and wipe it down then - close the doors and plug it in or turn it on again.

IF you are just wondering how to get the ice that is in their out, is the ice maker turned off ? There is a metal bar above or along side the ice maker that can be raised or lowered. In its rasied position it turns the ise maker off so if its raised lower it to get the ice maker to work.

If it is lowered and its still not working it may be an issue with the heating element - see the following write up:-

Fixing an Ice MakerIce maker not working? Fortunately, icemakers are relatively simple in operation and easy to fix when theIcemaker not making ice, but metal tray full of f - pagetools_04a.gif can do it! pagetools_04a.gif An icemaker is a small appliance that fits inside a refrigerator's freezer and makes ice cubes. The water flows through a tube to an inlet valve on the back of the refrigerator. When water is needed, the valve lets the water flow into an ice cube mold, where it freezes. When a thermostat senses that the ice is cold enough, a heater melts the ice surface so that ejector blades can push the cubes into a bin. The cycle repeats until a shutoff arm stops it when the bin is full. Disassemble an icemaker:

  1. Unplug the refrigerator.
  2. Remove the icemaker's front cover by unscrewing or prying it off as needed (refer to the owner's manual for specifics).
  3. Remove the ice bin, shelves, and vertical partition.
  4. Remove remaining screws, disconnect the icemaker wires from the harness connector or socket, and remove the unit from the freezer.
  5. Remove the back access panel (see Fixing a Refrigerator) and any fasteners that hold the inlet valve to the refrigerator.
Service the water inlet valve:
  1. Turn off the water supply at the saddle valve on the pipe.
  2. Disconnect the inlet valve from the refrigerator (see above).
  3. Unscrew the tubes from the valve, letting excess water drain into a bowl.
  4. Unplug the wires from the valve.
  5. Use a multimeter on RX10 (resistance times 10) to probe both terminals on the valve solenoid. An infinite reading means the valve solenoid is bad; a reading of 1,000 ohms or less means it is probably good.
  6. Remove the plate and filter screen from the water inlet. Wash a clogged screen with a toothbrush under running water. Replace the screen if it is rusted or damaged.

Whirlpool side by side with water and icemaker. My water works perfectly fine but my ice maker no longer produces ice. It runs but it's not getting any water to make ice. What can be done to fix this?

There are a couple reasons your icemaker will not fill with water.
First thing you want to check for is a frozen fill tube to the icemaker. The easiest way to check for a frozen line is to remove the icemaker. Once the icemaker is removed look for ice in the fill tube. If there is ice in the tube the (water valve) will need to be replaced. You can melt the ice by forcing hot water up the fill tube.
Another reason could be the icemaker is not sending voltage to the water valve. The fix for this issue is to replace the icemaker. Hope this helps you with your whirlpool fridge!

The reason to change the water valve with a frozen water line is because the solenoid is not closing all the way. This allows water to enter the fill tube of the icemaker and freeze based on the temperature.

The ice make stopped working. There is ice in the water feed tube. The ice maker is full of ice, but it is not dispensing. Ice in the storage bin was frozen together into blocks.

The icemaker in it's operation hits a microswitch to turn on a warmer in the aluminum tray that aids in extracting the ice by the rotating vanes. It may be that that part of your icemaker has failed.

Try this for a solution first. Remove all of the ice from the bin. Using a hair dryer, melt the ice in the tray and the fill tube. Be sure to warm all of the switches behind the plastic front cap in case those switches are frozen. Let the ice maker fill again and see if you have made ice. Often splashed water will freeze the rotating vanes and will not let the ice maker rotate through it's complete cycle.

Ice maker is not making ice, but water from door dispenser flows normally. Ice in the tray (where it is made), but it won't dump into the holding tray. any solutions?

The first thing to check is the tube that puts water into the icemaker...this sometimes freezes up from a leaking water fill valve..if so, this blocks the water from filling the i/m....if its not frozen up and is clear(open) then your fill valve is bad or your icemaker module(if equipted) with that style...

No water inside ice maker tray

Pour about 1/2 cup of water into icemaker . If it makes ice and dumps , replace the water valve . If ice stats in the tray , replace the icemaker . Also , check the hose going into the icemaker , to make sure it isn't frozen . If it is , replace the water valve . And , make sure the coils are clean of dust , lint , etc ...An icemaker has to be 5 degrees to dump and dirty coils will raise the temp above 5 degrees .

Ice frozen together

you can adjust the amount of water by popping the front white cover off the icemaker and adjusting a screw . depending on the model the screw will be a flat head on the side of the icemaker or a phillips screw on the front of the icemaker.

Sub-Zero 632 Ice Maker Leaking into Ice Bucket

Ice Maker is overflowing and leaking into the ice bucket: There are several things to check for.
Go for the easy stuff first, make sure the icemaker is level, some of the plastic liner fridge's will move and allow the icemaker to tilt over and leak. Other troublemakers..... the fill valve
staying on and over filling the icemaker..... the finish sometimes comes off the icemaker body and all the ice cubes don't come out. This will allow the new water to fill on top of an icemaker
that still has a ice cube or two left inside the body, if you have had trouble with black specs in your ice cubes, this may have been the beginning of your finish problem on the icemaker body.
On the module style ice makers (Whirlpool, Maytag Family, Sub Zero) the printed circuit in the
module head often wears and the contacts become too long and allow the icemaker to over fill = new ice maker or new module head.
Older style icemakers: This gear is bad for breaking and the icemaker quits turning to eject the ice.
You can remove the front cover to see the gear.
This is a common parts breakdown of the older style icemakers

Water fill volume: The water fill adjustment screw will change the fill volumes by changing the fill time.
One half to one full turn usually ( approx ) is equal to 20cc ( 0.68oz ) to 40 cc.
The correct fill is usually 130 to 150 cc ( 4.5 to 5.0 oz ).
When a water valve is replaced the fill volumes must be re-checked!

My ice maker wont make ice the water is not going in the tray

First, make sure the arm on the ice maker not in the up (off) position.

Second, pull out the refrigerator from the wall and make sure there is no crimp in the line from the wall.

Third, check that ice is not frozen around the plastic teeth. Pull out the whole ice bucket and thoroughly check that something is not blocking or frozen in the wrong place.
This will get you started.

Ice accumulating in freezer

There should be a tube that brings water to your icemaker from the back of the fridge into the icemaker. This tube is frozen with water, or the inlet where this tube feed the icemaker tray is frozen. The result is that water cannot go to the ice maker, and instead, goes over the top of the inlet area.

Verify that this is indeed what is going on.

The fix is to remove the blockage/buildup of ice at the inlet. You may have to detach the icemaker to get to it. Be carefull with electricity! Also be carefull as plastic can break under stress!
The tube may be frozen to the inlet, channel locks can be used to gently twist the tube to break it free.
Good Luck!
