Question about Canon imageCLASS D780 All-In-One Laser Printer

Canon Imageclass D780 is making strange sounds and is not printing correctly

Our Canon Imageclass D780 is giving us some trouble. It is making a sticky, crinkly sound when printing and all print jobs come out with a thick streaky line of toner on the right side of the page as well as a wrinkly section down the middle of the page and some rolled up chunks of toner. Also, occasionally thin, rolled up pieces of plastic are coming out with the printed pages. Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

I'm sorry I don't have a solution to your problem but instead a problem of my own. I, too, have a Canon ImageCLASS D780. Just inherited it from my daughter. The device has had almost no use since it was bought about four years ago. My problem is that I do not have the drivers for the device and the Canon support web site claimed that there are none available.

I know this is outragiously crude of me, but I was wondering if you have the driver CD if you could make a copy of it and send it to me. If you'd be kind enough to do it please let me know and I'll provide my mailing address.

Thanks so much. And good luck finding a solution to your problem. I'm thinking defective toner cartridge.

    Thanks again.

Sounds to me like its the fuser. I've had the fuser come apart after either being to old, or used too much. I would replace it, and see how it is then.

Can't install Canon ImageCLASS D780? Please help

I just checked on the Canon USA site here, and selected Wndows XP as the OS. The driver presented shows Windows Vista in the file name (D700_PrtDriverV110_WinVista_EN.exe), but the next screen shows that it is compatible with Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Vista. I would try uninstalling (if it is installed) whatever driver you currently have installed for your D780, then download and install this driver. Leave the unit turned off until the installation program asks you to connect/turn it on.

Clean the platen glass and make sure the isn't any debris or ink on it, especially by the roller. If you make a copy thru the ADF while the ink is still wet it will deposit on the glass.
