This has an LED channel display, which is the same as the Cobra 29. You can pick up a new one, there are a few color options available. You need to be very proficient with de-soldering and soldering small parts. You need a desoldering iron or desoldering wic, and no bigger than a 30 watt sodlering iron, any bigger can burn the foil trace, and some solder. You have to open the case, remove the faceplate screws, remove the faceplate, remove the channel selector/pcboard, and the channel display pc board together. Now you desolder the pins of the display, aproximately 20, remove the diplay, insert the new display observing direction (make sure it is face with the decimal to the right place), solder each pin to the pc board, and clip off the excess section of the pins (which is sticking out of the back of the channel display pc board. If you have changed to a blue display, you need to remove the orange or green cover, and replace it with a blue one (I make mine from blue transparant report covers) and hot glue it to the inside of the faceplate where the old one would have been. The reason for this is that the blue light will not shing blue thourgh a green or orange cover, and if you use clear, the display will be extremely bright, and the blue cover will knock down the glare a little. Now just put the radio back together and fire it up.

Now with that said, if you think you may have any trouble with this, you can take it to any cb shop and they should be able to help you.

Might be a problem finding a DX99V anywhere. That model has been discontinued. Best bet would be to Google it..

Frequency counter displays two digets high from hump on fine clarifier adjestment on usb.27.186 insted of 27.185. also in am mode shows dead on with clarifer hump until mic is keyed thin dropes from 27.185...

Turn that fine clarifier a 1/4 turn or so to the right. I own a Galaxy DX99V and sometimes if that clarifier is just right it will drop down a hundredth of a MHz just like that when the mic is keyed. Your radio is just fine. Just adjust that clarifier a tad. The Galaxy DX99V is one of the best radios out there. I love them. -73-

You may have a bad regulator transistor.
Good Luck on this problem, and I hope this has helped.
