Actually with bosch I believe its a star screw. remove those then they should just pop out. If you can't do it you may want to consider bringing in a professional as it shouldn't be too difficult. Hi I've got a bosch 36 vf li and I'm struggling to open it up to change brushes. I've undone all visible screws but still struggling with top part of unit.

Have you removed the 4 gearbox screws? the cover should lift off. sometimes if a brush holder has over heated then the two halves get stuck together in places.

I have a bosch 11264EVS hammer drill that just stopped working. I checked the brushes and have continuity to the rotor. Is there somethingelse I need to check/replace before I hunt sown a service center?

Did you have continuity from one brush to the other? Some Bosch tools use "pop off" type of brushes. When they get worn down a spring loaded center pops out and keeps you from damaging the armature. If they are fine check cord continuity. If the cord is fine it is most likely the switch. You can test the field for continuity also but those rarely ever fail. Here is the parts diagram.

Drum is not turning after replacing motor brushes - brushes properly seated on commutator - does this motor have seperate field windings and would this be the problem?

Hi, welcome to FixYa.

This is a common error on many Bosch washers. I've seen these motors have brushes replaced either necessarily or not (usually less than 5mm wear remaining they should be replaced) and come to find out the culprit is in fact the fuse in the motor...the windings are very unlikely in my opinion.

The thermal cutout is located within the motor, but unfortunately it is not re-settable. The only way to be sure it is faulty, is to check it for continuity with an ohmmeter. It could be a failed relay or printed circuit on the control board caused by the brushes wearing...but not likely, again in my opinion.
If you're up to it you can check the motor from the control board via an ohmmeter or multimeter. Here's how...

1) **Unplug the unit from the wall or turn of the power to the first**

2) locate the pin connector on the control board as shown here...

3) at thee points on the connector, you should find ohm values shown here...

This will/should indicate if there is truly a fault at the motor or not, (pin 5-6 should have continuity if fuse is good) if not, the failure is within the PCB as I mentioned. Make sure you make good contact with the connector inside the harness to insure a good meter reading.

Please keep me posted as to what you find or if I can assist you in any manner going forward and I'll certainly help in any manner I can.

Thanks again for choosing FixYa. Good luck.

Hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate your vote. Thanks,

My Bosch 1276 DVS belt sander abruptly stopped working. Could it be the switch?

that is possible, but was the tool operating properly first?? unplug tool and check the cord for any breaks, then what I would do is clean the tool as good as possible with compressed air and if you can remove the brush caps do so and check the condition of the spring and clean the area. DO NOT sand the brushes but look across the face to see if both look worn evenly. If you have a volt ohms meter check from the plug to the brush holder with the switch on brushes removed to see if you have continuity and if not then I would have to think the switch
