I had a bad dvd, I thought I could fix it by changing the scan, so I changed the s-scan to p-scan in the set-up. Bad mistake. I now get no display to switch it back. Can it be fixed. Greg

While unit is powered and stopped, select “DVD/CD” as the source. Press and hold [■] (Stop) button on the main unit and [≥10] key on the remote control until “Initialized” disappears from the television. Turn the unit off and on again. All settings will return to the default values.
Since you mention that you can not see the menu on your TV's screen, then you won't be able to see the "initialized" disappear, so, give it a second try if the first fails or press and hold the keys for a little longer.....

Note: To support "2 Sided" (Duplex) Scanning you will need to use the Printer's Duplex Automatic Document Feeder. When changing or viewing More... settings, press the Save button to save setting changes, or the Cancel button to exit the current screen without saving changes.
5. After an Output Color is selected from the first column of the Basic Scanning Tab, and the Image Quality/File Format Tab is pressed, a screen is displayed allowing you to choose and configure the settings for Original Type (Text & Photo, Text, Photo), Image Compression (High, Normal, Low), Contrast, File Format, and Auto Exposure.

My screen in dark and i see to fix it. not a dvd drive problem. It's a monitor screen problem.

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they are probably old and faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error
also
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scoll to ports(com&lpt)right click to scan for hardware changes or scroll to monitors + to expand plug and play monitor right click where you have options to update driver, disable.uninstall, scan for hardware changes or select properties where in the general you have the option to troubleshoot also in the driver tab you have the same options as when you first right click on monitor
also
click start control panel, display, desktop you can select a different desktop from the drop down list also settings you can change the settings for more or less pixels or from the drop down list pick the appropriate level of color range or troubleshoot also select advanced then general dpi normal size, larger size or custom settings
always click APPLY after making any changes
hope this helps

you have to select same formatt as your tv .If not sure of you tv system try auto system on you player.
NB dont select progressive scan by mistake otherwise you will not see any picture on your tv if its not progressive scan tv.
If you could mention tv and dvd model and brand will be able to advise you exactly.

How do I turn off Progressive scan?

Hi, follow the steps it may help !! Press STOP button. ? If playing a disc, press the STOP button twice so that ?STOP?, appears on the display. Press and hold P.SCAN button on the remote control for over 5 seconds. ? Pressing and holding the button for over 5 seconds will select "Progressive Scan" and "Interlace Scan" alternately. ? When you select P.SCAN, "P.SCAN" will appear on the display. ? To set P.Scan mode for DivX discs, press the P.SCAN button on the remote control for more than 5 seconds with no disc in the unit (?'NO DISC" on the display), then load the DivX disc and play. regards sreejith

Picture problems

Scrolling/black-and-white/"out of tracking" display on a DVD player is generally caused by the DVD player being switched into Progressive Scan mode on a TV not capable of viewing that content. Scan the remote for a button labeled Progressive, I/P, P.Scan, or anything similar. Scan the user manual for information on resetting this also. If the manual and remote come up dry, call Protron and see if there's a key combo you can hold to reset that. Often, holding Play for 5-10 seconds will reset to standard (Interlaced) mode, or holding Stop while turning the unit on. Sometimes, holding Display on the remote for a few seconds will also switch this setting. Good luck.
