Send it in to be serviced is the only way i know of. Or else to replace it yourself and save the unit you would most likely need aftermarket modification and a new hard drive. But that would be pretty hard since you cant pull the files off the hard drive like you would need to. So id call sony and ask them how to have it sent in to be serviced.

thanks,
Nate

Boot mgr error

This message usually means your "boot record" on your harddrive is corrupt due to a virus attack or harddrive failure. You will need to repair your boot record. If that doesn't solve the problem, replace your harddrive. If you don't know what this means, take it to a good computer repair shop. It's not something you want to do as a "newbie".

My ps3 keeps on saying your hard drive is corrupted

Likely, your HDD is corrupted. Before you attempt to reformat the HDD, and will thus lose all your information, if you have a spare laptop harddrive laying around, try swapping them -- the PS3 uses regular SATA HDDs. If that works, then the problem is with the original PS3 HDD, and needs to be formatted. If the new drive does not work either, then the problem is with the PS3 itself, and it will need to be serviced.
When the time comes to format the drive, check this article below --

Windows all of a sudden does not recognize the 100GB hard drive. Message is that the USB device has failed. Running XP on all of my computers and plugging this drive into any of them fails.

There's a possible that the harddrive is corrupted, or could be the usb cable itself, have you tried connecting a different usb cable for the harddrive? If so and still doesnt work have it covered by the manufacturer of the harddrive

My laptop keeps all of a sudden shutting off?

The harddrive might be corrupted. Reboot the computer, but before Windows comes up, activate or go into the BIOS. It's usually a key option displayed to get into set-up. Press that key. Once in the BIOS, see if the computer shuts down. If it doesn't, then the problem is in the harddrive.
