Accdb to vb

I have a table with 2 columns: 1 with names of students and the second field with their marks for the 1st week. At the end of the second week, I want to add the marks of that week with that of the 1st week. I do it in vb6. Can it be updated in the marks column?

HOW TO REMOVE ALL FIELD CODES FROM MS WORD DOCUMENT


The Field Codes always creates issues they are being printed.
To find and see if the field codes are in a document of not, first of all Field Codes needs to be visible.
To make them visible.
Open and MS Word Document.
Go to Tools --> Options
Select 'View' TAB over there.
either in Second or Third column an option would be available with name -
Field Codes - Check mark that option and below there will be an option that will ask 'When'.
There we need to select 'Always'
Hit OK at the bottom. Now all the field codes will be visible in a document if it is available.
To get rid of all the 'Field Codes' At once select the entire text by 'Ctrl+A'
--> 'Ctrl+Shirt+F9' (to remove the field codes at once)
--> 'Ctrl+S' (to save the documnet)

Inserting records into sql server using VB


It didn't enter the big if statement because all of the conditions to enter the loop were not met. You will need to set a breakpoint on the If statement and look at the values to find out why it falls short of the criteria.

Also, instead of incrementing the loop variables immediately before the Next statement, you could simply include a Step 2 modifier in the For statement to check every other row in the tables. You should not manually modify a counter in a For loop. You have class-level variables that appear to be used only inside of a Sub (that is where they should be declared unless they are used in another function in the class). You should be giving variables meaningful names and types. The variables d, h, and f are declared as integers, but treated as booleans and their names give no idication of their use in the code. And last (for now), the check3times varialbe is declared but never used.

se Adodc OR Even better.. ADODB. for this you need to get MDAC fromMicrosoft free download.(check under project_References- Microsoft DataActiveX objects.. the current no is 2.8. if it is not there download invb directory.

next, you can learn about creating a DSN from control panel, ODBC. onceyou learn this, connection becomes a piece of cake. get some free vbtutoriasl from WWW.

then

you need to use DAO or ADO to connect to the database. better study both but since ADO is current, i am showing that code.
under Menu Project_References, put a check mark on Microsoft ActiveXData Objects latest version (though it works for all, currently 2.8with sp pack 1 ).

What are uses of vlookup n hlookup?


An implementation of the vlookup in Excel could be:
You have an Excel table with student names and their grades.
You wish that you could somewhere in the sheet type a student name, and immediately retrieve his grade (based on the data in the table).
To achieve this, you can use "Vlookup": the function will look for the student’s name in the first column in the table, and will retrieve the information that is next to his name in the second column (which is his grade).

Hlookup is the same excpet it is for data arranged by rows instead of columns.

How to print only selected fields in ms access.


open your table in query, follow steps to do this...

1. open new query in access
2. locate the table
3. once table selected, select field name in selected table you only want to include in query
3. once finished selecting the field save the query
4. you can now view selected field in your table and print as well
5. you can edit the query anytime if you want to add or remove field
6. query will not affect your table since this is only query.

If you can move your name column (C) to the first column, you could leverage the VLOOKUP formula pretty easily.
To do this, do the following:
1) Move the C Column to be the A Column, shifting all other columns to the right.
2) (optional) Insert a new row at the top of the sheet (to hold the formula & seach value)
3) Use A1 as your search field.
4) In A2, enter the following formula:
=VLOOKUP($A$1,$A$2:$C$6,3,)

Describing above parameters, in the formula:
$A$1 -> the search field (name your looking for).
$A$2:$C$6 -> The table/grid you wish to search and return values from. The left most column (A) must contain the values to be searched.
3 -> is the column number (A=1,B=2,C=3, etc) within the table/grid to return.

If you cannot make the name column your first (A) column, there are more complex ways to do this. For instance, create a new sheet which redisplays the info in the structure easier for this method, and perform the VLOOKUP on that data. Other options might exist in creating a complex formula that would get you what you want.
Also, if you can sort column A (names) it would find results faster, if your data set is large.

Hi Ralph, On the first table If the name is in column A and dept is in B. Suppose the new names are in column D here's the formula =vlookup(D1,A:B,2,0) Note a few things - 1. You will only receive the 1st departament. 2. In case that the name in D doesn't appear in A you'll get N/A.
