Hi, Turn the L and H screws in gently until they just stop turning (no force at all) first. Then back them off 1.25 to 1.5 turns from closed. Set the L speed first unit running so that the unit does not stall when trigger is squeezed and then MAX throttle adjust the H screw until you get max speed. Recheck for stalls when trigger squeezed again and repeat above steps until you have no stalls / hesitation and max speed.

ADJUSTMENTS should not be much more than the width of a screwdriver blade on either screw before re-testing. Never more than 1/8 th turn per adjustment for sure.

Hi, Screw both "L" & "H" mixture screws all the way in untill you feel them stop, the undo each screw by one turn. This puts them at basic setting and should enable you to start the engine. once started you can fine tune the carb if necessary. Hope this helps, Doc Scott.

How to rebuild a 15hp mercury outboard carburetors

Take them apart and note the position of every part, clean the carbs with spray carb cleaner and then blow out all the passages with compressed air. Do not dip to clean the carbs, do not adjust the mixture screw.

Sounds like you have trash/debris in your carburetor jets/fuel passages...
Here is a little help...

Check/Clean/Replace your fuel filter if you have one, normally they are located in the fuel tank of weedeaters.
Also make sure you are using fresh fuel...and oil mix if your using a two cycle mower or weedeater with the oil to the right mixture and not too much oil as it can cause hard starting.
If the mower/weedeater is over a year old, then I recommend that you buy and install a new carburetor repair kit,because the diaphragm will get hard and that will cause it to be hard to crank.
Sounds like you will need to clean the carburetor or replace your carburetor internal rubber parts like the diaphgram and O rings.
I recommend that you use a laquer thinner type cleaner to clean and dissolve the laquer build-up in the float and needle jet passages.
Be sure to remove all plastic and rubber parts before using the laquer thinner because it can dissolve the plastic parts and render them unuseable.
Be sure to use compressed air to blow out all the fuel and air passages.
Be careful when blowing out the passages, because there are sometimes small rubber type seats in the bottom of some of the passages.
Sometimes you can get by with priming the carburetor or using starting fluid and letting it run a few times like that and it will flush the gunk out of the jets,but most of the time you will need to rebuild the carburetor.
Keep in mind that the float for the carburetor must be level when you go to reassemble the carburetor or follow the instructions you get with the carburetor kit.
When you clean your carburetor and remove the jet screws, you will first need to lightly seat the jet screws.
But before you lightly seat the jet screws count the number of turns it takes to seat the jet screws from their original position.
Be sure to mark the turns down on a piece of paper.
That way when you put the jets back in, you know to lightly seat them first and then turn them back out to their orginal position before you started.
Once you have your carburetor rebuilt that should solve your problem.

Lawn Boy Silver Series mower starts and engine turns over but quickly stalls. Plenty of fuel in the tank, new clean oil and new spark plug. Air filter is clean too.

Yes a 10% Ethanol fuel can have some adverse effects on certain carburetor parts.
It can cause your "0" rings to grow and close off vital fuel passages and also cause them to start disolving and can plug passages.
You may need to rebuild your carburetor, try what I suggest below.

Check your fuel filter if you have one, normally they are located in the fuel tank.
Also make sure you are using fresh fuel...and oil mix if your using a two cycle mower or weedeater with the oil to the right mixture and not too much oil as it can cause hard starting.

The line pulls easily, has fresh gas with mixture but will not start

Pull your sparkplug out and make sure you are getting spark, if you are getting spark then proceed:

I have Briggs and Stratton 3.5 horse power Model 091212-1319-E1 that will not start. I rebuild the carb but it still will not start. If spray hot start it will run for a few seconds

Sounds like you will need to re-clean your carburetor and reset your float level.
When setting your float level be sure to turn the carburetor upside down and make sure the float is level and not tiliting up or down. This will affect the fuel allowed into the carburetor.
Be sure to use compressed air to blow out all the fuel and air passages.
Sometimes you can get by with priming the carburetor a few times, and letting it run a few times like that and it will flush the gunk out of the jets,but most of the time you will need to rebuild the carburetor.
When you clean your carburetor and remove the jet screws, You will first seat the jet screws and count the number of turns it takes to seat the jets from their original position.
That way when you go to put the jets back in, you know how many turns they were in/out.

I have a gas trimmer. It starts but will not stay

Sometimes you can get by with priming it a few times, and letting it
run a few times like that and it will flush the gunk out of the jets,
but most of the time you will need to rebuild the carburetor.
If the mower is over a couple years old, then I also recommend that you
buy and install a new carburetor repair kit, because the diaphragm will
get hard and that will cause it to be hard to crank.
When you clean your carburetor and remove the jet screws, count the
number of turns it takes to seat the jets from their original position.
That way when you go to put the jets back in, you know how many turns
they were in/out.
