Plays CD 107 minutes and goes back to start

When clicking play button, the player plays about 107 minutes and goes back to start and will not play forward tracks, window view show NO. The Disc seems to be turning and can hear some sound in track 2 momentarily, then the window shows NO and then shuts down.

I did not see a solution to my Problem with the TEAC PD-X100 in your posting. As I mentioned when you press play the CD plays about 107 min. then reverts to start of the track again, over & over. If you choose track 2 it will not change or play and a NO comes up on the window.

Did the CD Cleaner and it did not solve the problem. Do you have other suggestions?

  • brickeytree Aug 26, 2008

I tried the CD Cleaner with the same results. stops playing at 107 minutes and reverts to starting position over and over, also will not play advance tracks, noting a NO appears in the window.

There seems to be a mechanical/electrical problem with the lens transport mechanism. This repair might not be DIY and the parts might not even be available.
Click here to see the part you need to fix your device. Some vendors might just sell the lens transport mechanism without the lens.
I would suggest to contact the manufacturer if your device is less then a year old.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Hi-

Two things: it may be the CD player or the Disc itself. But if it doesn't happen to other cd then chances are its the disc.

Hope this helps

Most often problems such as this are caused by bad media, meaning the problem is with the CD especially if the CD was not written correctly. Try to use a differnet CD and see if the same problem occurs.

If it happens with all the CD you play, then it has to be lens. Try to clean it with some spray cleaner.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks

This can be a lens problem, the players lens having a hard time reading the disc probably its bad or just dirty, try to run a CD cleaner to make sure the lens is clean...

Good luck.........

If you know how to open the player and clen the lens with a cloth , you can try that. But let me tell you there's a possibility that you may need to replace the lens of it..

You can clean the lens with a small amount of windex and put a little oil like 3 and 1 oil on the spindle motor shaft and on the sled rails. Good luck !

I just purchased a Rowe AMI CD-100a. It was a barn find. Once I learned to initialize, I tried to play individual tacks or entire CDs. For each track, the unit picks the CD, places it down on the player...

Could be the power supply voltage is low, possibly due to a bad capacitor, it seems that when the counter advances it is pulling the voltage down enough to cause the problem you are experiencing. If you can select a disc in the service mode, the counter should be inactive, and you can see if the disc will play through.

This sound like a mode setting problem. Can you manually select another of the discs and it plays?

Honestly, when the mechanical parts wear to this extent, you're better off to buy a new CD/DVD player, since they are so much cheaper than repairing older units.

First clean the laser head with a Qtip and alcohol. It gotta be perfectly clean, so wipe with fresh brand name qtip and make sure there is not a single dust particle on it. You gotta remove the cabinet with star screwdriver. Your beam might be tired. First try with the clean up! Unplugg before opening!

Pioneer elite pd-f27 300+1 cd changer

I've owned two of these players, one currently, and both exhibit this behavior. Although frustrating, it seems to be inherent in the vertical loading mechanism. Every finicky CD I pull out of the PD-F27 plays perfectly in my single-loading tray player, including CD-Rs. One would expect more of an "Elite" product, but there you are.

If you trust yourself enough to open the case w/o breaking stuff, then open it up UNPLUGGED, locate the laser lens (small, clear, plastic) gently clean the lens with a swab of lens cleaner for glasses.
Also clean the chrome runners that the laser assembly tracks on.
