I'm trying to backup MYDOCUMENTS folder to my SanDisk Cruzer 1 GB removable drive. It stops backing up files when it is only 57.3 MB full. There is still 918 MB free space but it will not back up any more files. The error is "cannot create file" or something like that.

I have had a similar problem to this one. It is relatively easy to fix.
Step 1 - Backup any files that you want to keep from your SanDisk. Do this by going into my computer and clicking on the SanDisk removable hard drive. Drag and drop the files you want onto a folder on your computer.
Remember - If you back up everything BE SURE YOU DO NOT BACKUP THE U3 LAUNCHPAD SOFTWARE.
Step 2 - Get into your My Computer folder and right click on your SanDisk removable storage device and select format. After you format everything should be removed from the memory stick.
Step 3 - Drag and drop the files you backed up back onto your memory stick.
Done! Hope that helps.
Dog bites can be tough, they have beautiful teeth that can do some severe damage to a flash drive. I would be happy to get your data back for you. I run a simple mail in service here: http://happydatarecovery.com/
Make sure you have all programs and folders closed. Then try stopping usb mass storage, there should be more then one option so try removing the drive itself on the list. If that doesn't work. I myself would probably just restart the computer. Then try again. Thanks, Lee
I'm not sure if this will work for you, but I had the exact same problem. An update was available so I downloaded it. It failed during downloading without a reason and when I went to open the Cruzer there were dozens of folders with weird lettering or squares. If I attempted to move/delete the folders, I'd receive a warning that it can't be done.
It also told me to redownload it. I attempted to find it..but nothing worked.
This worked for me:
Open up "My Computer"
Under the "Devices with Removable Storage" you should an icon labeled under the drive you placed the Cruzer under.
Right Click the icon and click explore.
You'll then see all the corrupted folders in the Cruzer file and on the left, you'll see a column of your computers hardware.
Right click the "Removable Disk" in the list of computer programs and click Format. Click yes when it says "It'll erase everything."
I have got a problem of Files Hiden. When i opened Control Panel there is no Folder View. When i tried to do any thing it asked me "Insert U3 Smart Driver" But I couldn't find that Driver, But I do have 4GB SanDisk Cruzer Flash Driver. So Please support me for more.
