I have a GN 9120 netcom headset with a lifter. I've used this for years and in the last week the mutifunction button is VERY sensitive. It lifts and gets dial tone with the slightest touch including everytime i put it on my ear. This may sound petty but i'm hanging up on people as well when just brushing that button. Have I moved something unknowingly that's causing this?

SOURCE: GN Netcom GN 9120 - can't hear

Hi There, I had the same problem with a headset one of our call centre reps were using. It's usually due to some one fiddling with the button. I got it working by removing the battery from the headset then resinked the headset to the base unit. Hope it works for you

SOURCE: GN Netcom 9120 unexplained beeping

Actually what she was hearing was the ring tone in her headset when a incoming call comes in. The sensitivity on the handset lifter that picks up the ringing on a incoming call was set all the way up and was picking up interferance from the headset base as they have the tendency to buzz when placed right next to the phone. I just turned down the ringer sensitivity with the adjustment on the handset lifter and that took care of the problem. Thanks for your time.

I had a 9120 for years, great headset. Change the compatibility wheel and levels on the unit per the instruction book link below. https://www.jabra.com/_/media/Product-Documentation/Jabra-GN9120-Series/User-Manuals/User_Manual_Jabra_GN9120-GN9125_EN.pdf

GN 9120 beeps constantly

Are you using the GN1000 Handset Lifter? And if so, are you playing music/radio through the speaker of your telephone? If this is the case the Lifter will be picking up the sound of the music coming from the telephone and interpreting it as an incoming call, hence sending a signal to the earpiece in the form of beeps. Just stop the music coming from the telephone and the beeps should stop.
If you are not playing music through the telephone, you may need to turn down the sensitivity adjustment on the back of the Lifter. Just turn the knob anti-clockwise a little bit and see if that eliminates the beeping. If the sensitivity adjustment is too high it will pick up every little noise that goes on around your desk and interpet them as the phone ringing.

If you are not using the GN1000 Handset Lifter, then the beeping may be the result of a sticking/stuck volume button on the earpiece. If you adjust the volume on the GN9120 it gives a beep when you reach the maximum or minimum volume. If a button is stuck down it will result in a constant beeping. A stuck button is generally not a user servicable problem, however a little bit of tinkering with the button may get it unstuck.

Sticky middle button

This is a problem that can occur on this model after a couple of years. You can try a small amount of non petroleum based lubricant as a short term solution but the problem most likely lies within the small tactile switch that the button is actually depressing. The internal spring in the switch becomes fatigued over time and is a non replacable part. The headpeice should be available for purchase as a seperate item from your local headset specialist (we sell them here in Australia). It is a simple matter of registering the new headpiece to the base.

Incoming alert

Generally you will get a ring in the headset when a call is detected by the lifter that you use or if you don't have a lifter then you would have to use the little microphone that comes with the unit and affix that to the speaker on your phone so that your GN 9120 knows when to alert you of a call.
