Question about PDAs

I am downloading the Palm software. A window appears. "Setup was unable to a access internet. Check internet connection." My internet connection is working. I'm tied up. Is there a phone number I can talk to. I can't just stop and let this stuff hold my PC captive. glassfordj@bellsouth.net

What is this. I click on "Palm" and it directs me to a psychic. I click on "Customer Service" and it directs me to Verizon. Where is the answer to my problem?

  • glassfordj Aug 22, 2008

Hay! I can't accept your solution. Where is my answer? I'm going to have to return the Palm as I can't download it? You said you'd give me a number for a life person. I clicked on that and ended up at Verizon. Your solutions are no solutions. Help!

I've been requested to re post my problem. My problem is the same. During downloading the software a screen appears and tells me it cannot complete because it cannot reach my internet. My internet is fine as I can receive e-mail and reach the internet by search engine. The last solution you gave me was to "Call my internet provider." That is no solution. I intend to return the Palm as the service provided to help install the software is very shot of being helpful,

It probably is your location network problem. Contact them and ask to troubleshoot your telephone line.

I am getting the "unable to access ebook store Check your network settings to ensure you have access to the internet." i am using Windows 7; Sony reader PRS-600 Would appreciate help! Thank you Joanne

Has this happened to you before? If you access the Reader Store from your regular Internet Explorer can you access it? If that is the case, try downloading the Reader Library software once again.

When I try to install my ebooks library for reader it says to check my internet connection, which is fine!!! it will not finish the installation.

If attempting to connect to the Reader (eBook) Store by Sony on a computer that is connected to a network through a proxy server, contact your IT support specialist for assistance in configuring your proxy server settings to allow access to the Reader (eBook) Store by Sony. It is not possible to adjust these settings through the Reader (eBook) Library software.
  1. Check your security software settings. Some security settings may not allow the Reader (eBook) Library software to access the Reader (eBook) Store and will need to be adjusted to allow access to the Reader (eBook) Store. Determine if the security software is causing the issue.NOTE: Various different Internet security or parental control software may block access to the Reader (eBook) Store. Some software may request a password to unblock the store site. If a password is requested, enter your password to access the site.
    1. Temporarily disable the security software.
    2. From in the Internet Explorer software, on the menu bar, click Tools , then click Internet Options .
    3. In the Internet Options window, click the General tab
    4. In the Browsing History section, click the Delete... button.
    5. In the Delete Browsing History window, in the Temporary Internet Files area, click the Delete files... button.
    6. In the Delete Files window, click Yes .
    7. Attempt to access the Reader (eBook) Store Web site through the Reader (eBook) Library software. If you are able to access the store with the security software disabled, the security settings will need to be adjusted. If you are still unable to access the store, continue with troubleshooting.
    8. Re-enable the security software.
NOTE: The steps to adjust the security software settings varies by manufacturer. Consult the help files of the software or contact the manufacturer for assistance. A list of contact information for some popular security software.

Installing this PDA on Windows Vista Home Premium laptop

you shouldnt need a device driver for your pda to work along side with Vista, as Vista has it's own Windows mobile device centre which should run as soon as you connect your pda to a usb port. If it doesnt run, then open up windows mobile device centre in programmes and check the mobile device settings as to whether usb is set to connect to the centre.

Bluetooth Internet Connection Problem

You have established a bluetooth connection between your Palm and your PC, but you probably haven't configured your internet connection to be shared with the Palm. o do so, open My Network Places by right-clicking it and selecting Properties. The Bluetooth Network adapter was automatically created during the Bluetooth installation. Right click the icon and select Properties. In the General tab select the Internet Protocol components and click Properties. Write down all the information from the next dialog, and click Cancel. Back in the Adapter properties, select the "Sharing" tab and check "Enable Internet Connection Sharing for this connection". Now, to configure the Bluetooth USB, right-click the Bluetooth icon in the system tray and select Advanced Configuration. Change to the Local Services tab and double click "Network Access". Change the type of service to "Allow other devices to acces the Internet/LAN via this computer". The alternative to this option will allow your device to connect to your computer as part of a LAN, but will not have internet access. Note the Configure Connection Sharing button: it'll open the configuration screens we've visited before. But some Bluetooth software will not have this button, hence I guided you through the other route . On your Palm device, a new Connection configuration is needed. From the Palm Launcher open the Prefs application, and switch to Connection. You'll see a list of connections and will tap the New... button. You can assign any meaningful name to this connection. Select the values as indicated in this image. Tap the device name to choose what computer will be used for this connection. Make sure your computer is in discoverable mode. If you tap the Details button you'll see the next screen. Now create a new Network access configuration, using the connection created in the previous steps. Tap Network to go to the next screen. Tap the New... button and enter a name for your Network access configuration. You shouldn't need a username and password. Tap the Connect button and you should see your LAN connection initiating. To make sure the connection is working, still in the Connect dialog, tap the menu Preferences and select Options. Choose View Log and the screen you see will show the negotiation between the Palm and the DHCP server on the network. To check your DNS is working, scroll to the bottom of this log, and enter PING and a hostname. Use the Return stroke as an Enter and If your connection does not complete, or if your Palm shows a Timeout error, try adding a script to this connection. This is common with Palm OS 4. Newer versions of Palm OS should not need any script to work. From the Network dialog, tap the Details button. On the next dialog tap the Script button. On this script dialog enter the following: SEND CR DELAY 1 SEND CLIENT WAITFOR CLIENTSERVER END Hope this works!

Windows XP, Palm m130, & Outlook 2003 - Sync problem

It sounds like the computer is noticing the USB activity (from when you hit the HotSync button) but for some reason it can't find the correct information/driver. I'd first try a soft reset (stick a paper clip or the end of your stylus may screw off to reveal a pin, in the hole at the back of your palm) Don't worry, it won't delete your info UNLESS YOU HOLD DOWN THE POWER BUTTON (SO DON'T). Once it's booted back up, try the hotsync again. If that doesn't work, you may need to find the usb driver for your palm and reinstall it. This could just be copying a file from disc, or reloading your Palm Software. Good luck
